25.01.2022 As a G&T drinker (pink please), from way back, I think that this will be my first 'drink' request when I eventually get back to India. #Gin Gin with friends!

24.01.2022 This is a game of Kabbadi which was being played in a village on the banks of the Ganga River. Our boat stopped to visit an auspicious temple, but must say this game was far more exciting to watch. Kabbadi is a contact team sport between two teams of 7. The objective is for a single 'raider' to run into the opposing sides team and tag as many of their defenders without being tackled, and then get back to his own end. I didn't manage to find out how they score!!!! #kaudi #hadudu

23.01.2022 Sometimes you have to let life turn you upside down, so you can learn to live right side up Swati So good to feel alive and safe after the strike team back burnt the forest opposite us to meet the ferocious fire sweeping towards us! #happytobealive #rainbowlorikeet #crazybirdlady #currawanfires

20.01.2022 The Museum of Life and Art An amazing collection of indigenous works of art and a fine introduction to Gond and Baiga art forms. Thank you for making us more aware of this wonderful folk art.

17.01.2022 An incredible place in India is the langar (kitchen) at the Sikhs holiest shrine, the Golden Temple. It is here that two hundred thousand rotis and 1.5 tonnes of dhal are served up daily. No one ever goes hungry and all religions are welcome to eat.The langar never stops and feeds an average of 100,000 people daily. Most helpers are volunteers. I got totally involved whilst there helping to make rotis, peeling garlic and pouring chai, among the things I enjoyed most were the gracious people who were happy to have their photos taken.#portraits #kindness #goodwill #magic

15.01.2022 I found these cheerful young monks at Gangtey Monastery whilst searching the alpine valley for black-necked cranes in Bhutan a few years ago. #thepurposeofourliveistobehappy #dalailama

12.01.2022 Thiksey Monastery, the most beautiful in Ladakh, is a gompa affiliated with the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It is located about 20 km from Leh and one has to travel through spectacular countryside filled with stupas and cherry blossom.

01.01.2022 Thank you Udit Barthakur for sharing such a wonderful memory. It was indeed a most exciting trip with a great group of Aussie friends all of whom enjoyed your lectures in the evenings about different topics of historical interest. As a group we ventured through Rajasthan seeing some the usual sites and some really different areas like Chambal with its stories of dangerous dacoits who once ruled the area and stunning Bateshwar Temples. We then trained it to Khajuraho Temples... (also known as the Kama Sutra temples)and flew on to Varanasi for some soul searching and immersing in another cultural experience. We then took a second class train ( there were no first class ones- an experience loved by the group who really enjoyed the company of other passengers) to Farakka Barrage where we met Udit our lovely tour guide. We boarded our boat ABN Sukapha and headed down the historically rich Hugli River to Kolkata. What an amazing adventurous experience, we learnt so much, ate tasty dishes, enjoyed great hospitality but best of all immersed ourselves in the Indian culture and her wonderful peoples! See more
