15.01.2022 Karen reflects on Earth Day 22 April 2020as I look out to my Gypsy Rose factory in the distance It had been my intention to reach out before now, but like many of you, I have been caught in the tight reign of adapting to things in my personnal and restructuring my business life. I send good vibes to all of you who have felt the brutal & blunt end of this pandemic, in particular , those who have lost loved ones, or who have fallen very ill themselves and the frontline heal...th industry who are stretched beyond their capacity. Many thoughts run through our minds. How did this happen? What can we do to prevent events like this in future? Can we at least survive the incredible economic damage it has wreaked upon us? what are the lessons to be learned? On 50th anniversary of Earth Day I felt my journey of reflection began with the Earth itself, & all the sacredness and sanctity of the natural world. We call this planet our Mother Earth" since it is what brings us life. Yet most of us on this planet are well acquainted with how we have abused it. If I were to have one wish yesterday it was this: May the lives of those who have been lost or severely harmed through this pandemic lead us all to reflect on the incredible opportunity this historic moment is presenting us...... We know the origins of this pandemic occurred in a wet market where live, wild animals were in too-close proximity to humans. We also know that the human species, through decimation of habitat, is driving more & more wildlife into extinction or into too-close proximity to other species, including our own. I believe we must seize this moment & urge our governments & council to bring about REAL massive changes in the model of our current worlds societies. The basis is there to grow food & manufacture all items LOCALLY in a more sustainable way, use LESS packaging, update recycle plants so as to reuse absolutely everything & only produce 100% biodegradable items. AIM TO WASTE ZERO & create a model based on us all finding the balance of priorities and values in our economic world, monetary distribution and all of our day to day activities. Its possible as there are a minority of folk and businesses practising this now. Foremost, we must respect and protect Mother Earth and her ecosystem , embrace our wholesome integration with the natural world and her 4 elements EARTH AIR FIRE WATER To everything there is a rhyme and a reason. Ours is not only a test to get through but to believe YOU only get the TESTS you can PASS & most importantly start NOW I think of the word GRATITUDE most fondly and frequently. I do hope and trust we will be free to meet again soon.
