17.01.2022 It really had that heyday feel. Burnett Joyce (Dad) made nothing short of a miraculous recovery to see the cracking sale. He was overwhelmed by the phenomenal crowd who saluted his contribution to the industry with rousing applause before the auction commenced. We owe a debt of gratitude to all those along the way who have chosen to make us a part of their story and who likewise are intricately woven into the tapestry of ours.

14.01.2022 The world outside does feel a little bit different right now and we are grateful to have witnessed this transformation beforehand...... it's so much easier to be in lockdown when you know everything is regenerating beyond the backstep.

14.01.2022 He's been coming back time and again for 26 years, through thick and thin, fire, flood and drought!!!! Reidy's maiden tour as a new kid on the scanning block in 1994 included Gyranda and Eidsvold Station. Anthony Coates (Eidsvold Station) gave him the best advice he has ever received..... "never mind being scared of Burnett Joyce (Gyranda), it's the cook you need to get on the good side of!" It's a good thing Reidy charmed his way into Meryl's affections 26 years ago becau...se she's still here too! Armed with a bag of lollies to win over the yard team, kids and back packers, a cheeky smile, a wicked wit, some competitor breed’s cap, and gossip from all over the country, he's weedled his way into all our hearts!!!! Belied by his cheery expression, he always breathes a solid sigh of relief when he and his thirty thousand dollars worth of equipment have made it to the other side of the swollen Dawson river to get to the bulls on the other side; A journey he has needed to make a surprising number of times over the years (the tinny's not getting any younger either, but now we have a motor instead of oars and the holes have been repaired so he doesn't need to bail water out with a cup as he goes!) Reidy you're a champion (and a bloody good scanner to boot)! NB- for those not in the know, as well as bulls leading up to be sold, we also ultrasound scan all our bulls and heifers at 400 days of age to measure fat depth, eye muscle area (your tasty rib fillet) and intramuscular fat. This is fed into a comprehensive database and processed through ever evolving algorithms to develop EBVs (Estimated Breeding Values) to aid in cattle selection and breeding. David Reid is one of the few fully accredited scanners in Australia, and in our minds, the best!
