03.01.2022 Let's Talk Here at HeadtoHelp Wellington, we believe that being proactive in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic is crucial to a healthy mind and body. So we would like to share three important points which can foster this healthy growth! 1. Stay active:... Despite being restricted to your local area, we encourage individuals to find ways to exercise and get the body moving, whether this may be formal or informal exercise. Numerous amounts of research directly links exercise to a more clear and stressless mind. If you can’t go outside, why not try some activities you can do in the comfort of your own home. Thanks to the introduction of technology, we have access to great resources, such as YouTube and mobile apps, which provide step by step ways to move. 2. Mindfulness and meditation: Many of us have heard the benefits of mindfulness and being aware of our surroundings. In a pandemic, this may be crucial to understanding what is happening around us. To practice good mindfulness, we at the hub suggest setting time aside for meditation or some form of activity, which calms the mind. This is as easy as taking 5 minutes to close the eyes, clear the mind and refocus on the day’s thoughts. When every things around us becoming too overbearing, we suggest to take the time out and really plan out how to tackle the challenges ahead. Grab a mate or close family member, group meditation is even more effective and can be fun! 3. Talk, Talk and Talk: The clinicians at the hub are here to listen and help talk through the challenges of the day. But aside from our service, we suggest talking to those around us to de-stress and help plan better ways to respond to challenges. This becomes even more crucial when stuck at home as we lose the social activities that we normally engage in. Though it may seem easier to stay alone during such as testing times, but if you take the time and reach out to your friends or family, the mind has a chance to let off steam! Remember not all conversations need an outcome, a simple ‘G’day’ speaks wonders. If you want more helpful tips or just want to chat, call us on 03 5143 7984
