20.01.2022 100 years ago, there was an Ellery Station upstream (north) from Ellery Big Hole. It belonged to Jim Cummings. Realising it was too small, and not viable, Jim... Cummings left. He rode to the Mid-North of S.A. to farm and train horses. In 1950 he trained Comic Court to win the Melbourne Cup. By then he was living in North Glenelg, Adelaide. His son was Bart Cummings, the Cups King, and an Australian National Living Treasure. Many say that Bart actually trained the horse Ellery Station later became part of Owen Springs Station, however, it is now Owen Springs Reserve, known as the Alice Valley and no longer part of a pastoral lease/station.
