25.01.2022 Saving lives on the way to saving lives Just before he began his specialisation internship at Hadassah - and after years of service as a doctor in the army - Dr Yankee Hussein saved lives in another way. The superstar donated bone marrow to a patient whose identity he doesnt know. Dr Hussein trained at Hadassah Hospital when he began his medical career 12 years ago. It was here that he gave his first bone marrow sample after learning there was a shortage in supply. ... But he was surprised to receive a phone call all these years later informing him his bone marrow was needed and could save lives. So, on the trip to Hadassah to begin his specialisation internship, he thought it was fitting to stop along the way to give this special gift. See more

The letter, addressed to Dr Lisandro, read: Dear Dr Lisandro, Hila was admitted into your care in the morning for emergency surgery, and already from the first moment you showed extraordinary sensitivity and professionalism. You explained everything for us, with patience that was beyond comprehension. You made sure we knew... what to expect in the operating room and the recovery period. Not only was the birthing center modern and beautiful and close to their home in Maale Adumim, but Jessica had done her graduate work in Jewish education at the Hebrew University, and she understood the historical weight of the return of the Mount Scopus hospital campus to Hadassah following the 1967 war. Jessica and Yehoshua were all set for a June 6 delivery, but because of some complications, her doctors thought Jessica should have a cesarean section. After looking at her chart and the calendar, they scheduled the birth for June 1. That happens to be Omamas 100th birthday, said Jessica. Yael Kadori, who works with patients with kidney problems, has written a recipe book for her patients to ensure they can still enjoy their meals while following a strict diet. The book includes recipes with limited levels of sodium, potassium and phosphorus, in addition to other concessions that are needed when a patient is... receiving dialysis or having kidney problems. 10.01.2022 Nursing scholarship beneficiary Rachel Ademe thanks the Hadassah Australia community With your support, Rachel has been able to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. Born in Ethiopia, Rachel and her family made aliyah when she was three months old. For as long as she can remember, Rachel wanted to work in the medical profession, but it was during her army service that she felt a strong desire to become a nurse after seeing the dedication of the nursing staff around her.... In particular, the nurses' ability to listen, give advice and help their patients convinced Rachel that this was the right path to follow. Rachel found the prepatory studies difficult, but thanks to the Hadassah Ethiopian Nursing Scholarship program, she was able to receive support -educational and financial - to undertake an alternative study pathway. 03.01.2022 Dr Shaden decided she wanted to be a doctor at age 10 after her grandfather suffered a heart attack in their village near Nazareth where there was no immediate medical treatment available. Today she leads the Emergency Medicine Department at Hadassah and has set her sights on expanding and improving the emergency room.

01.01.2022 How does a family celebrate their son’s bar mitzvah while their young daughter is being treated for cancer? It’s not a dilemma any family would like to find themselves in, but it must be addressed. The solution, initiated by Hadassah Hospital, was simple: bring the celebration to the hospital! A side room near their daughter’s ward was converted to the event room for close family, with drinks and refreshments taken care of by volunteers.... And the nursing department even volunteered to look after the girl while the family attended a shabbat meal together. See more
