22.01.2022 Haddon Rig is investing heavily in our Poll Stud, spurred by increased demand for our Polls exhibited at our 2020 ram sale. Today, we invested $65,000 in the ram: Poll Boonoke 190678: an exceptional AI lamb sired by Willandra Poll 170018. Figures are as follows: FD: 19.7 SD: 3.1... CV: 15.1 CF: 99.7 BWT: 140 kg EMD: 43.5 YCFW 28.7 PWT. 8.7 YWT. 11.8 YEMD. + 0.2 YFAT - 0.4 GFW %. 163 % MP+: 165.3 % DP+: 171.5 % We were impressed by his early growth, conformation and balance of the ram given his size," Andy Maclean HR classer Stuart Murdoch considered the ram had a lot of presence and was well covered with a very stylish and rich fleece. "He is really well grown and is very athletic and exceptionally correct for a 140 kg 2 tooth ram," he said. Thank you to the team at Boonoke, Elders, Landmark Nutrien for your support. More information and pictures coming soon. . . . #pollmerinos #merinos #australianagriculture #sheepbreeding
21.01.2022 Gorgeous day at HR today. 4 inches of rain this week and the paddocks are responding quickly.
20.01.2022 Happy International Rural Women’s Day from the team at Haddon Rig! We want to shine a light on all that women do in rural communities and in agriculture, specifically the things that often go unseen. Pictured here are Rachel Maclean (left) and Sally Falkiner (right). These amazing women are two of the women at the backbone of the station: from Sally’s end, running the business, managing personnel, working with George to keep the place operating and ensure everyone is hap...py and healthy, marketing the Stud, being a Director on the HR board, looking after clients, feeding literally hundreds of people a year (contractors, clients, classers, visitors, agents, banking reps) and mostly just keeping the whole place running smoothly. On top of this, Sally is a full time artist, who has exhibitions across regional NSW, supporting the local Arts community and bridging the divide between the bush and the city. She’s also an epic Mum and grandmother to Raffy (also featured). Rach, similarly supports Andy Maclean, the Stud Manager, cooking for the jackaroos and making sure they are healthy as well as looking after two of our key junior female helpers and lamb marking extraordinaires, Sophie and Allie Maclean. On top of all of this, she works full time in town at the local Central School, supporting the local community and contributing to the fibre of the town and community. We also recognise Paula Blake, who as office manager does a lot of the behind the scenes work, keeps things running smoothly and is your first point of call for Haddon Rig and Sarah Latham, who supports Robert Latham, the Farming Manager, her four children and runs her own massage business in Warren with a heart of gold. For many years, women have been hidden in the background of farming operations, with resources and support flowing primarily to men as a consequence. Understanding the dynamic role women play in Ag and in rural communities is critical to ensuring that services and support are directed towards them and that they are rewarded and recognised for their efforts. HR would like to thank all the women who make our world go around: secretaries, jillaroos, cooks, cleaners, farm hands, contractors, bankers, insurers, shearers, business women, friends, family, teachers, doctors and wives of the HR team. We really appreciate what you do!

15.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day! To celebrate all the roles women play in our Haddon Rig team, we are shining the spotlight on one of our young guns, Rose Duncan. Role at Haddon Rig: Jillaroo... Why have you pursued a career in Ag? I am passionate about the industry, learn life skills, interested in the Merino and beef cattle industry and what the future holds for it. What’s your dream job in the agricultural industry? I would like to own a few properties eventually, and would like to see more properties become Australian owned. I’d like to contribute to vertical integration in the industry. Let’s take a moment to cheer on all the women who make our world go round: jillaroos, secretaries, cooks, cleaners, farm hands, contractors, bankers, insurers, shearers, business women, friends, family, teachers, doctors and wives of the HR team! Cheer on the incredible women in your life, tag them in the comments! . . . @thelandnews #farmlife #thankafarmer #womeninagriculture #womeninag #australianagriculture #wool #Merino #thankafarmerforyournextmeal #haddonrig #haddonrigmerino #australianfarming #merinosheep #merinowool #agchatoz #nextgenag #argricultureaustralia

11.01.2022 What did that drought teach us? Once more, that preparation is key. 1500 tonne of Barley Silage chopped and under tarps in Bunkers and 1500 bales of Oaten Hay bales in the hay sheds thanks to James Russ at Russ Ag. #droughtpreparation #westernfarming
10.01.2022 As we say at HR it’s all in the genetics - we are thrilled to have 3 generations of Murdochs in the yards this week - what they don’t know about merinos is probably not even worth talking about in the first place. 07.01.2022 What a great initiative! If you’re thinking of giving it a crack, this is a fantastic opportunity!
05.01.2022 Has your Haddon Rig cap has been getting a workout this harvest? Loving this pic of HR friend Emma Bowman, who’s worked with us in previous summers irrigating cotton and helping with our Merino breeding program! Em’s pictured here burning diesel in the chaser bin near Tullamore, NSW and repping the Hr hat! We love it!!! Hoping the rain has stayed away and the sun continues to shine while everyone finishes harvest! We’re a few days off at HR, and everyone’s looking forward to... sitting down for a minute to breathe. . . . . #haddonrig #harvest2020 See more
