24.01.2022 OUT WITH THE OLD & IN WITH NEW! After ten long years of excellent service, our green is now a thing of the past. Starting today (Monday, 5th October 2020), Tony and his staff have begun the process of removing the old green and underlays, in readiness for the new green to be laid over the next two weeks. Tony has not been able to move some of the underlay rolls as they are full of water from the overnight and today’s rains. He estimates they are at least 150kgs each. Water ...could be seen draining out of those moved into the ditch drain. For those who haven’t visited the Club today below photos show the first stage of the process.

22.01.2022 BUSH FIRE APPEAL - MONEY RAISED HAHNDORF BOWLING CLUB The Hahndorf Bowling Club held a Bush Fire Appeal Fund raiser "Caberet" on the 15th of February. The night started with Evan Heath busking at the front door with his home made set of drums made from poly piping, painted purple and blue. He amused the band of merry musicians who were setting up and they were very impressed with his music skills and encouraged to keep going as a future musician. Rob Scott (whom we... approached to do the "gig") through word of mouth kept the night entertained with a variety of musicians from jazz to toe tapping and dancing music. Rob did an amazing job and we are very thankful for his effort in sorting out the music. The bands paid for their drinks and did not charge for their entertainment. Donations came forth for the raffle without canvasing and this made an excellent money raiser for the evening. People were entertained with trying to get their $2 coin closest to the Baileys and Whisky, which again proved to be a great money spinner. Everyone had a great night, lots of laughter, dancing and a few sore heads the next day. We asked the people at the functions where they would like the money to be distributed and the majority went with local CFS. Raffle raised $1440 Evan the Busker $108 Baileys and Whisky $300 Overall we raised $5352.45. This money will be distributed to 8 CFS in the local district. A huge thankyou to everyone who donated and volunteered their time to make this a wonderful evening. It was just an idea that grew and I am ever thankful to my family and friends for their help but especially to everyone that donated and came to the night to make it such a great success. - Val Deeble Secretary for Hahndorf Bowling Club

16.01.2022 AGE NO BARRIER For Ron Bateman (85) and Bill Robertson (84) age was no barrier to winning their Section of the State Pairs at Lameroo last Sunday. Played on grass and in extreme heat, they maintained the pressure on their opponents throughout the day. They now travel back to Lameroo next Sunday and we wish them every success. Sue Maddern, playing with Joan Prosser from Payneham, won her Section with three wins and we wish them well for the Knockout Round this coming Sunday.... Geoff Deeble and Chris Rowe also travelled to Lameroo and had three close games, losing their first two games by 1 & 2 respectively and draw their final game. Richard Crocker and Graham Evans ventured to Geranium and won their first two games but lost their last and then lost on a countback. Sue Hutchison played with her sister, Janet, winning two games whilst Val Deeble, playing with Gill Bartley from Tranmere, won one of her games. Well done to all Club Members. Great to see our Club being represented in these State events. It is an excellent experience playing at different venues, on different surfaces and against bowlers from a wide range of Clubs. It is strongly recommended for all members to consider entering.

07.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS Top Division....Grand Final..... WINNERS Today, Wednesday 17th March 2021, our Top Division team took out a nail-biter by two shots over favorites, Lobethal BC to win the Grand Final. With the scores locked away and Phil Nagel’s rink with one end to play, our team of Tim Anderson, Bob Edwards, and Rob Hutchinson gave Phil three shots at the change-over. Lobethal’s Darren Stansbury had two opportunities to reduce the shots held, taking out one of... Hahndorf’s bowls with his first, followed by Phil putting his next bowl being the head as cover. Stansbury’s last bowl missed, handing Hahndorf the Grand Final. Phil’s rink won their encounter 28-18. Geoff Deeble’s rink did their part in comfortably overcoming Neville Mansell’s rink 26-12. Well done to Richard Crocker, Ray Rattray and Roger Mableson. Jamie Burt’s rink did not fare so well going down 7-29 against Wayne Zilm’s rink. The win for Hahndorf is a great result for the overall team coming from well down the premiership table early in 2021. The team had only won two games by the 10th of the 17 rounds, winning five of their last seven rounds. Well done to all who have played their part in this memorable win. Best of luck to our Saturday Top Division team, again against Lobethal BC.

03.01.2022 SO CLOSE........ Our rink of Phil Nagel, Geoff Deeble, Roger Mableson and Bob Edwards did our Club proud by making the final four in the SA Country Championships. Their semi-final, was played in mild but windy conditions, against Kadina. Our team scored two-shots on the first end, however, the Kadina boys steadied and continued to play quality bowls. It seemed that whenever we had bowls around the jack they would simply remove them. How frustrating!! The final score being 17-7. However, we are proud of our team and the manner in which they played out the game. Congratulations.
03.01.2022 HUTCHINSON AFFAIR Played in mild conditions, with the green running at 17 sec, the Infin8 Care Ladies and Men’s Club Singles Championships were played. Chris Rowe and Rob Hutchinson contested the men’s whilst Sue Maddern and Sue Hutchinson battled out the ladies. After Chris got away early, Rob got back to take the lead and continued running out a comfortable winner. Sue H got in front early but right up until the final end, Sue M continued to fight back. Sue M put the jack in the ditch to win the third and second to last ends however a two on the last end got Sue H home.
02.01.2022 STAGE 2 NEAR COMPLETION As of 11.00 am, Friday 23 October 2020, this is what our new green looks like: The underlay is down and attached all around. Now for the Green!!
02.01.2022 THE FINAL MATCH OF THE DAY! Sue & Joan defeated Sherryle & Sandy to go through to the top 16. Congratulations to all ... The heat was challenging for all players with cooling towels and plenty of fluids on hand.
01.01.2022 All of you would be aware of the fires that started on Friday in Cudlee Creek. Unfortunately many of our Hills Bowling Associations clubs are in this affected area. Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted. A message from Val Deeble regarding how we can help. Hi ALL members... I have been in contact with one of our fellow Lobethal Players and she has been in contact with the Rescue group at Lobethal. They are in desparate need of WATER, FOOD (TINS NON PERISHABLE), TOILETRIES, CLOTHING, FODDER (DOG, CAT ETC) I am asking for a donation from as many of our members as possible. It could have been US. They need our help. Geoff and I will be at the bowling club with our trailer tonight at 4.00pm until whenever to load up as much as possible. If someone else has a trailer and can help that would be great. We will deliver what we collect to the HELP Centre at Lobethal. Over 70 homes have been lost and it is such a terrible tragedy for anyone to experience. Please clean out your cupboards for anything you think people need and bring along to our club. Every little bit helps. PLEASE CONTACT VAL OR MESSAGE THIS FACEBOOK PAGE FOR ANY QUESTIONS OR DONATIONS OFFERS.
01.01.2022 What a beautiful evening we had for the start of Night Owls, the BBQ was sizzling and bowls were rolling with plenty of fun & laughter on the green.
01.01.2022 Old Hahndorf Mill Hotel 100 Up Congratulations to the both Tim Anderson Winner & Ron Bateman Runner Up
