18.01.2022 H O M E H A I R C A R E Beauties, I can’t stress enough how important home hair care is! Looking after your hair at home means you will see perfect results during and after your in salon service. Remember- I see you one day out of 60-90 days! Which means what you’re doing to your hair at home has a MAJOR impact on what we’re able to achieve in salon. The most important part is investing in a good quality SHAMPOO + CONDITIONER Supermarket or chemist shampoos will no...t only fade your colour or toner out sooner, but will also leave a waxy residue on your hair. Making the lightening or tinting process more difficult, which will delay you reaching your hair goals. After you have invested in quality products, you need to make sure you’re washing your hair properly. This means, shampooing TWICE and then wringing the water out of your hair before your conditioner or hair mask. All of my clients know that I am a massive advocate for replacing your conditioner with a hair mask if your hair is extremely damaged or dry. Lastly, a Tangle Teezer or comb are the only items I would suggest brushing your hair out while wet. Anything else will create too much pressure on your hair follicles which will result in excessive hair loss or breakage. Be GENTLE when towel drying your hair at home. Hair is in its most vulnerable state when wet! Always pat or squeeze dry. Never rub! TIP: A leave-in oil or spray conditioner will not only help with your tangles but protect your hair throughout the day Feel free to message us for any product recommendations!

18.01.2022 Let’s talk colour correction! If you have previously bleached your hair, and then coloured it back to a darker tone, It’s so important that you understand that you are STILL technically BLONDE. The example I give to clients; If you’re fair skinned and burn easily in the sun, but then you self tan your skin, you’re STILL FAIR SKINNED. You’re not a darker colour so therefore won’t burn easily. ... Until you have grown out ANY blonde, you will still need to be treated as someone who has already lightened their hair. Hair is a strong fibre but it DOES have a breaking point, and it won’t come back from that until you grow it out. No treatment in the world will bring your hair back to its virgin state. It’s common knowledge that virgin hair is the best and easiest to lighten. With previously coloured hair, you need to remove the artificial colour, and then the natural colour. Going blonde can completely transform your look. It brightens your complexion, makes certain facial features pop, and can even add volume and texture to otherwise dull and limp, fine hair. The blonding process is not the bad part. The bad part is when its done wrong. When you over process your strands, don’t care for your hairs condition, use cheap colouring products or are not completely honest with your colourist about exactly what your hair history is. I would never recommend blonde to anyone that has a tendency to often change their mind on what they want. If you get to the perfect blonde and decide you want to go dark again, you can’t go blonde again without a high chance of experiencing breakage and porous, dry hair. I will often warn clients that if I do take them back to a darker tone and they change their mind again, I will not be the one to lighten it again for at least 2-3 years. What to take from this post; * If you have lightened your hair and then taken it back to dark, you’re still blonde * Be honest with your colourist about your hairs history from the past 5 years * It takes ONE appointment to do years worth of damage. So stay consistent with your hairdresser, home hair care routine and your colour goal

15.01.2022 New look, new year! As a woman, not to mention hair salon owner, this was insanely scary. To voluntarily shave my head with the risk of all attention being on my face and personality (fuuuuck). Knowing that if I regretted this big move, this big step from what society sees as beautiful, that it was a long, long road back to where I started. So you can imagine my RELIEF when I wasn’t crying as much as I anticipated, that I somehow felt MORE confident stepping out of my very ...comfortable comfort zone and that I didn’t feel any less fun, outgoing or loveable. Will I keep it forever? I have no idea. Am I so glad I had two glasses of wine and took the plunge? Abso-fucking-lutely!!! My darling sister in law, Sammy @ministry_of_hair_and_barber THANK YOU. For doing this for me and then doing it with me!! And my godsend of a partner Ben. For holding my hand, my wine and the tissues the entire time. And then doing the shave straight after me. #BLESSED the support in that room would have made anyone cry. See more
