08.01.2022 *** BAITING WARNING *** RSPCA is warning all pet owners to be vigilant with their animals after concerning reports of baiting have been received. A dog in Tocai... Way, Pearsall, ingested a bait that was thrown into the yard. The owner rushed to the vet and luckily, the dog has survived and is recovering. Another incident was reported on Leichardt Loop in Rockingham, where an owner discovered a large number of balls of chocolate had been thrown into the yard. Chocolate can be fatal to dogs if ingested. Please be vigilant and keep an eye on your pets, and for anything suspicious in your yard. If you think your pet may have ingested poison, seek medical attention immediately. It can take hours or days for symptoms to present. This is also a reminder to people that it is never OK to bait or poison pets that you consider a nuisance in your area. It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act (2002) and you can be prosecuted. If you have an issue with a neighbours pet, please talk to them about it first - do not take matters into your own hands. Baiting should be reported to the RSPCA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 CRUELTY (278 358).
