18.01.2022 UPDATE She came back to the salon today and I was able to save some of her hair! I’ve attached a video of it in the shampoo bowl today after a semi permanent ...color, a deep conditioner and an olaplex treatment, you can tell how much healthier the hair is, before I couldn’t even run my fingers through it without pulling out chuncks of hair. We cut some (posted on my page) but due to not being able to style or use heat I wasn’t able to get a good picture. I’m sharing this for educational purposes only. Backstory: she bleached her box colored hair at home and then put a relaxer on it (also at home) to control frizz Chemicals are not something you want to mess with without the proper knowledge and training, this is exactly why. Her hair is beyond recovery. Unrelated but if your stylist tells you that your hair will take several sessions, it is not to take your money (you’re going to have to return anyways to keep your color up ) we tell you this because we know your hair can’t handle what it is that you want in one visit. The difference in box color and professional color is that when you have your hair done by a professional, the color is customized for you specifically with the integrity of your hair taken into consideration. Box color has to work the same for one person as the next wether you have thick course black hair or fine damaged blonde hair. This is why we need to make sure the deregulation of cosmetology license doesn’t happen! If you’ve been box dying your hair brown for years and plan to keep it the same color forever then by all means box color and save yourself some money but if you plan to change your color at some point you’re only adding damage to your hair and it will cost you more money overtime to correct it. And always tell your stylist if you have box colored in the past, this is so important because the metallic dyes in the box color can react with our products and damage your hair! It’s a horrible feeling as a stylist knowing there’s absolutely nothing you can do to help someone save their hair. (none of this was done inside our salon, she came after the damage to see if we could help her) ***Edit: This post was not made to bash anyone, it was posted with the client’s permission to educate you on what can happen. After losing her hair yesterday this woman helped save the life of a pedestrian who was struck by a car today so if you haven’t done that with your day, keep your rude remarks to yourself. For everyone asking about our end result.. the day she came in the salon she couldn’t bear shaving it so we cut a lot off and combed a ton out (hints all the hair in the trash can) she’s going to come back Monday for a treatment and another big chop, until then shes wearing a wig.
