25.01.2022 Yes the temperature has cooled, but the days are lovely, if you feel you need to put a jacket on your dog overnight ensure you take it off during the day. Grooming is still very important during winter, we can do a longer cut so the coat remains knot free and manageable for you and your furry family is happy and comfortable. Or a warm bath, blow dry , brush out, toenails clipped , a trim around the face , clip hygiene area, and remove the hair under pads is maybe all your f...urry friends needs, ring us and ask for a mini groom. A wet dog means a cold dog and the skin becomes prone to infection. Come to Burpengary Store, there are Saturday Markets at Burpengary Primary School, new restaurants, and a huge Kmart.... 24.01.2022 Meet Ollie and Lulu, they are regular visitors to Hairy Barkers, started off a little nervous but now they own the place. Great to see reluctant 1st timers giving the girls kisses.

24.01.2022 GROOMING IN CHANGE OF SEASONS As groomers we want to work with you to do the best for your animals. A matted dog will not stay warm or cool. Instead he may be uncomfortable and painful- with knots and matts pulling on his skin every time he moves or even worse he could get skin infections, bruising or hot spots. We quite often hear I will let them grow a bit longer for winter to keep them warm. Whilst a little more fur can have its advantages in the Southern States, in Q...ueensland we still have warm days and cool nights but very few frosts or freezing cold nights. We can do a clip that leaves a bit more fur for warmth at night, but allows them to be comfortable during the day- and no constant brushing to keep matt free for you! Or if you want to put a jacket or jumper on your furry one at night , you need to go short. Those jumpers can turn a perfectly knot free dog into a matted mess very quickly- making your dog uncomfortable. Come and talk to us about what might suit your dog- we don't want your best friend to be cold and we certainly don't want them knotted and in pain. 23.01.2022 R.I.P Thor Thor passed away last night. Many of you will remember seeing Thor and being amazed at his size. He was a 90kg Leonberger. He has been coming to us for 5 years and many a time he would be having a nap and many of your dogs would be jumping over him or on him to get passed or curled up beside him having a snooze, he never batted an eyelid. ... THOR was regal ,good looking and he knew it, he could be stubborn and you might as well forget trying to move him if he did not want to. I have to thank Chris and Sharon for entrusting us with Thor and allowing us to love him as well. Thor you will be missed, by all of us at Hairy Barkers including your little buddies you met on the days you came for Grooming.

22.01.2022 Yes it is that time... Please book your furry friends in for there Xmas groom now. Appointments are already filling up.... Feel free to message us with preferred date and time.. (8:30, 10:30 or 12:30). Even if you just require a bath and blowdry or a tidy up (mini groom) we will need to book you in to ensure you get the best time for you.

18.01.2022 After 25,000 photo's we managed to get the magnificent three organised and sort of facing the same direction for there State of Origin bows photo. After today's photo attempt I know why it is said "don't work with children or animals" I think in the end they just went lets give her one shot it is sad watching her plead.

16.01.2022 Winter is here... Well Queensland's version of Winter. We hear many people saying they would like to leave coat a bit longer in winter. The biggest issue is you will be making more work for yourself, the longer the coat the more dedication with the brushing and combing. Below are some photos of a dog clipped recently whilst the owner was brushing they just were not getting all the way through. Unfortunately the only way to help this situation was to clip it all off and he will actually be more comfortable. The skin under the matting is pink from the matts pulling everytime he moved. This puppy will be happier, be able to keep cool during the day and a nice comfy bed or blanket at night will keep him warm, at this length a coat can be worn but to be taken off in the morning.

12.01.2022 Meet Ghost, an absolute gentleman,we were lucky to be able to groom today. Ghost was not to keen for Mum to leave but soon came round giving kisses and cuddles, mind you he is a bit heavy on your lap and a kiss means your whole face is a tad wet. Look forward to seeing you next time Ghost.

For safety sake and prevention of transfer of germs from hard surfaces we ask that you remove your collar / harness and lead and take home with you. Please bring back when we call you to pick up.... If you have to self isolate please contact us and we will see what we can do to help get your pet to us. In the USA Dog Grooming, Pet Stores have now been added to essential services so we are hoping we will remain open during this challenging time.

Only one person allowed in reception at one time and we will ask you to remove collar and lead and take home with you and bring it back and put on your dog when you return to pick up. We want to stay open during this time so are mainting social distancing both at work and all other situation to keep ourselves well.... 04.01.2022 MEET MISS MARCH for the Cavalier rescue calender. Rosie had been in a cage for 5 years until she was rescued by her new parents and sister Marley 3 month ago. She was a joy to groom and get ready for her photo shoot this afternoon. You could not meet a sweeter little girl, and the joy she showed when her human parents came to pick her and Marley up she has found the best home.

02.01.2022 Meet Charlie, Charlie is one of our very first clients. Charlie gave us all a scare 6 months ago but with good Veterinary advice and parents who dilligantly followed them he is well on the way to being his happy self , his hair is starting to come back to normal color and thicken up. We are so very glad Charlie, We would all miss you to much.

02.01.2022 Some restrictions are being lifted as you are all aware. We still have to maintain social distancing rules so we at the moment are still limited to amount of staff / customers we can have at one time. If your best friend needs grooming please please book ahead and even rebook after your appointment. A lot of grooming Salons have closed or are limited like us. So our phone is ringing all day and to answer we need to stop grooming answer phone , wash hands then go back to gro...oming. This is disruptive for your pets, if no one available to answer phone we are letting the calls go to answering machine, we are returning calls in order. We will get back to you. If you cannot make an appointment please let us know. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will see more changes and that will be great allowing us to get back to normal what ever that may be.

01.01.2022 Today we had Marshall the Border Collie in for a warm bath and blow dry. Batsy the Cavoodle for a winter clip, he did very well as this is only his second groom and Koda came in for a bath , blow dry and deshed, and Mini Groom my house had more hair than the grooming salon on a bad day.
