25.01.2022 Noosa National Park painting of rocks & sea. Hal loved the Park

24.01.2022 If you like a Fine Art Print or Canvas Print of any of the 7 images shown this week of the coastal sand dunes around Noosa, please let me know via the Contact Us page on the halbartonpaintings.com.au website and we can arrange as a custom print for you, with delivery in 10 days.

24.01.2022 When I saw the Mona Lisa I was surprised how small it was. When I saw Whistlers Mother 2 days ago I was surprised how large it was.

23.01.2022 #3 Monday "Path to the Beach" with that bit of ocean blue in it, to tell the viewer where it is & adding more colours. Any preference so#1, #2, #3? or no preference?

23.01.2022 I am supporting a friend, Simon, who is travelling by motorbike from Melbourne to WA and back, starting 6 April 2016, with a group of 400 other riders in support of prostate cancer. To find out more check https://thelongride2016.everydayhero.com/au/simon

23.01.2022 Over the past year I have been most impressed by the Archibalds, the David Hockney exhibition and the John Olsen exhibition. The WithoutPier Gallery is always an amazing place to visito

21.01.2022 Hard to believe? I found an article just now which said in 1899 ninety percent of New York Citys taxi cabs were electric vehicles. This fleet of electric cars was built by the Electric Carriage and Wagon Company of Philadelphia. Not only that, but in 1899 and 1900, electric cars outsold all other types of cars, such as gas and steam powered vehicles. In 1902 an electric car, the Baker Torpedo, became the first car to have an aerodynamic body that enclosed both the driver and the platform. Reading elsewhere I noticed that the taxis didnt go much faster than 15 mph and could only travel a short distance.

21.01.2022 I loved the clouds, light & colours in this painting I saw today. Just seeing a photo of a painting doesnt tell you how big it is so also show the paintung with a figure beside it. Yes, it is a big painting.

20.01.2022 Who likes Escher?

20.01.2022 I went to several art auctions last year. Many paintings went above $100K. Seems its not so much about the paintings as about the painter. Has he/she been promoted/marketed really well & thats why their paintings are valuable? Is it really about art or promotion of individual artists?

20.01.2022 Who are amongst your favourite painters of the Australian landscape? Mine include Albert Namatjira, Hans Heysen, Terry Jarvis and Hal Barton (his paintings of gum trees are special).

19.01.2022 Two more images to be posted tomorrow & Good Friday of the sand dunes and beach near Noosa. Look forward to your comment on which is your favourite #1, #2 ...... #7

18.01.2022 The Noosa Food & Wine Festival 20 - 22 May 2016 looks like another blockbuster with events and sessions at various locations including Hastings Street, Makepeace Island, Noosa Farmers Market, Noosa Main Beach, Noosa Restaurants, Noosa River, Noosa Springs, Sheraton Noosa, The J Theatre and more.

17.01.2022 #7 Friday. This is the last in the series of 7 images of sand dunes and the beach around Noosa. To be exact, the beach & dunes in the strip from Sunshine Beach to Peregian, just south of Noosa and the Noosa National Park. This last image with the white dune sand (it really is this white) and grasses is just beautiful. The locals, beach (as well as dog) walkers & visitors, will recognise this instantly. Now that 7 images have been posted over the last week, please comment on any one or all of these and if you have a favourite then Comment below. If I get 3 or more comments Ill arrange another series in 2 weeks time. So be bold - just say something, anything!

17.01.2022 #4 Tuesday Another image of the native plants and pandana trees in that narrow strip of sand dunes; with a path leading from the road to the beach used by surfers and locals. One of my favourites.

16.01.2022 Hal loved the work of Hans Heisen and you can see his influence in Hals paintings of the bush

16.01.2022 I just love those colours. A great painting of the Australian bush.

16.01.2022 #1 Saturday. Over the next 7 days there will be one image posted each morning of the sand dunes leading to the beach, all with a little or a lot of ocean blue in the background. Most of these were painted by Hal near Noosa. Check them each day & comment on the image you like most.

15.01.2022 What did you think of the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition in Canberra. My friend loved it.

15.01.2022 I visited the Archibalds in Geelong. Loved it

15.01.2022 Now for something completely different. And frivolous. And why not? Crayolas Miraculous New Superblue Crayon Officially Has a NameAnd It Will Blue Your Mind The newest addition to crayon boxes everywhere is Bluetiful. The colour, inspired by YInMn Blue, the new blue pigment accidentally discovered in 2009 by chemist Mas Subramanian and his team at Oregon State University, was christened by Crayola at a colourful press conference in New York City on Thursday morning Sep 13, 2017

14.01.2022 #6 This is the 2nd last in the sand dunes & beach series, around Noosa. Hope you liked them. Would be great if you comment on a favourite. All the best

14.01.2022 I went to several art auctions last year. Many paintings went above $100K. Seems it’s not so much about the paintings as about the painter. Has he/she been promoted/marketed really well & that’s why their paintings are valuable? Is it really about art or promotion of individual artists?

13.01.2022 Another great painting of Hals of the dunes and beach near Noosa.

13.01.2022 I didnt get a chance to see the Archibalds in Sydney this year so will visit Geelong late October to see the paintings. That will be the 5th time in a row for me. Here is a question. Was this year better/worse in terms of quality? As I havent seen them I cant say. What did you think? Sorry but Im not an admirer of Brett Whiteley but I went to an Auction last month where a Whiteley sold for $1.4M and it was an amazing painting & I loved it.

12.01.2022 #2 Sunday. The flora on the narrow coastal strip of sand dunes is quite different to a bit further inland. This fascinated Hal. He often went to Noosa National Park where he was an honorary Ranger, devoted to maintaining nature in its raw state. Which image do you prefer #1 or #2, or no preference?

10.01.2022 Going to see the Archibalds in Geelong later this month. Can’t wait. Anyone else seen it? What did you think & your favourite painting?

09.01.2022 I just love this painting. Great to hang in the kitchen to celebrate good food & wine.

07.01.2022 Some more info about Hal Barton. Hal Barton who died last year was a well-known and highly respected painter who spent more than 35 years in the Noosa area, painting bush and coastal scenes. When Hal and his wife Christa moved to Eumundi and converted the old Queenslander behind the Post Office into a Gallery, Christa and a girlfriend started the Eumundi Market (in 1979) now an iconic Sunshine Coast attraction. Hal was a keen environmentalist who was made an honorary Ranger of the Noosa National Park. In addition to his brilliant bush and still life paintings see halbartonpaintings.com.au Hal also painted many dune & beach scenes, particularly of the narrow coastal strip from Sunshine Breach, just south of Noosa National Park, to Peregian. Some of the sand dune images can be seen on facebook.com/halbartonpaintings - from mid March 2016.

07.01.2022 Have a look at the Women Painting Women Facebook page. "Women Painting Women is a blog exploring how contemporary women figurative artists are approaching women as subjects." A great site with some great paintings.

06.01.2022 Now here is a painting. Saw this yesterday.

04.01.2022 Going to see the Archibalds in Geelong later this month. Cant wait. Anyone else seen it? What did you think & your favourite painting?

04.01.2022 This is a drawing Hal did in 2003 when he attended Master Classes at Florences famous Uffizi Gallery in Florence. While best known for his paintings of the bush, Hal was superb at drawing and this skill was a necessity when he started his career as a Commercial Artist.

04.01.2022 This time the right way up. It took me a while to realise.

01.01.2022 #5 Wednesday A bit more blue ocean in this image & a beautiful depiction of flora on the foreshore. Have a close look at the sand; it transports you to Sunshine Beach just south of the Noosa National Park. Another favourite.

01.01.2022 A sad note for the music lovers amongst us. Jimmy Hendrix died on this day back in 1970 at the age of 27. Jimmy Hendrix, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27 between the years 1969 and 1971.
