24.01.2022 I;m not much of a movie buff, but during covid lockdowns I did manage to watch a few movies - one being 'Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga' where Iceland compete in Eurovision. This a sweet blog post following up on some of the Icelandic references in the movie. And if you haven't seen the movie yet and love Iceland it's worthwhile grabbing some popcorn and popping it on over the wknd! Enjoy https://adventures.is//eurovision-movie-iceland-references/
21.01.2022 Even if you didn’t read their previous post earlier this is a fun bit of history of the Icelandic horses in the Great American Horse race.
21.01.2022 Looking forward to catching up on this presentation over the wknd! A great resource for training the Icelandic horse.
19.01.2022 This weekend the boys have come up from the back paddock for a little stay in the yards. For the young ones it’s a chance for them to be exposed to new things, trucks going past, hand feeding, us driving up in our cars, and eventually more handling. For the older dudes, they could do with shedding a few kgs, so on a bit of a diet, fitness program & reconnect. All due for feet trim & worming so having them close I can get to them between other things more easily. I so enjoy the energy of the group and getting to know the youngsters better. After a warm morning it’s come into rain for the day so will go catch up on some inside jobs & see if we can fit in some more mental stimulation for them tonight.
17.01.2022 An incredibly inspiring story about the Faroe Ponies and the woman who's saved them from the brink. https://youtu.be/ukqvayNfVCU
16.01.2022 Some great free training via Hrimnir Community for riding/ training the Icelandic horse.
13.01.2022 Poor Elsa looks like she’s either got triplets or a giant growing in there ... she’s not due for at least another month!
10.01.2022 Night night everyone ... hope you had a wonderful day
09.01.2022 So many great opportunities to learn from some of the best Icelandic horse trainers have come out of the Covid situation. Isolfur has just set up a new learning platform if you’re interested in adding to your skills. https://www.isoonline.is/
07.01.2022 Meant to be a hot 31 degrees here today. Already warm and windy. Horses put out to graze and waters topped up. Saw my first snake for the summer by the yards. Ergh ... I loved the years I lived in New Zealand because there were no snakes to worry about. Touch wood the horses seem to live in relative harmony with them about. Though they are extra jumpy ( like me ) about sticks and pipes that might be snakes over summer.
06.01.2022 A simple version of why the icelandic horse is gaited. https://grapevine.is//ask-a-geneticist-why-do-icelandic-h/
05.01.2022 They really breed the Icelandic people and their horses tough! Some pretty amazing weather changes in this cool video of an icelandic bloke going riding with his friends. https://youtu.be/ZAwSX4OIwic
02.01.2022 Matt Harnacke - rider and influencer trying out the icelandic horse for the first time in Europe. Obviously he was unaware at the time that there were Icelandic Horses in Australia. Very interesting watching a great rider from another discipline get the feel for the icelandic horse and the gaits. https://youtu.be/ZnrNt4WWKjQ
