23.01.2022 ADOPT ME! Hi, it's Lola again and I'm still looking for a home. Seems my forever human family haven't seen my great video yet! People say I'm a great girl, super smart, not too active. Apparently I'm a lap dog. I just love human company and if you're home more often than not, I would love that. I get on OK with other dogs once I get to know them, but can be a bit unsure of them so I'd prefer to be an only (dog) child in your family. Would you please consider adopting me? (or sharing my video?) I'm based in Melbourne. If you would like to apply to adopt me, please do so via: http://www.halfwayhome.org.au/adoptions/dogs.htm
22.01.2022 Please be aware of people attempting to steal dogs by posing as council officers in Melbourne. Always ask for ID and if it doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. If you're quick enough, take their photo!
21.01.2022 Our friends at Forever Friends Animal Rescue have asked us to promote this very important film, showing this Saturday night in Melbourne. This film was put together by the creator of the No-kill model, Nathan Winograd. Nathan is a real game changer. It would be great to see the no-kill model broadly implemented across Australia. Want to be empowered for positive change? Grab your tickets today!

14.01.2022 Help stop animal cruelty. There is currently a unique opportunity to save the lives of innocent, healthy, well behaved dogs, while at the same time making the Victorian community safer. It's easier than you think but you need to take action ASAP. Remember Kerser, Rocket and Milo? These are all dogs who were seized and held in pounds while their owners had to fight costly legal battles to save them. They had done nothing wrong. They had responsible owners and had never bitten... anyone. They were seized because of their appearance. Over months and years, their owners won the drawn-out legal battles. Countless others have not been so lucky and didn't make it out alive. FACT: DOG BREED OR APPEARANCE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AGGRESSION. The state government is currently requesting feedback from the public on Victoria's cruel 'restricted breed legislation' (BSL). Feedback is due by this Friday (10 July 2015). A sensible government would repeal this flawed, discriminatory, perhaps 'superstitious' discrimination against certain types of dogs. Many aren't aware that once German Shepherds were feared and banned here. Now it's any dog that vaguely resembles certain bull breed types and that's a very wide range. BSL sets a very dangerous precedent - who knows what breed will be next? FACT: BSL HASN'T SUCCEEDED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD - EVER. IT JUST KILLS INNOCENT DOGS, UPSETS THE COMMUNITY AND WASTES A LOT OF MONEY. Below is a short video from Canada's Bill Bruce asking for your help. He's a global leader in animal management, safer communities, and less killing in the process. Bill know's what works - he developed the successful Calgary Model. He wants Victoria's draconian BSL laws changed and they need to change. FACT: BSL COMPLETELY IGNORES DOG BEHAVIOUR, PUNISHES RESPONSIBLE OWNERS AND CAN ACTUALLY INCREASE DOG BITES IN THE COMMUNITY. Do you support an end to the cruelty? Click here for details on how to make a submission. There's a template letter available too. https://responsiblecanineguardianshipvictoria.wordpress.com Please share widely to anyone you know who cares for innocent dogs and wants a very broken system fixed.

12.01.2022 An important message to keep everyone safe.
09.01.2022 This is Munroe. He's a Muscovy drake. His mother was killed by a fox and he was raised as a young baby with his sisters. Munroe is a very handsome bird and will get more so as he ages. Munroe’s feathers are gorgeous and shine iridescent shades of purples and turquoise through his black feathers. He needs to go to a home where he will be a loved and cared for pet definitely not for eating or other such options. Munroe would love some duck company and space to forage. Munroe ...loves a bath so he needs either a dam or if in a residential backyard a little wading pool like a clam shell. Munroe needs to be locked up each night in secure housing to protect him from predators such as foxes. Munroe is in a foster home near Bendigo. If interested in adopting Munroe, please email [email protected] with details of your home environment, contact number and suburb. If you would like to speak with someone directly please call Rebecca on 0409 007 583.

07.01.2022 For those who support justice and equality for dogs! There is a rally for the repeal of breed specific legislation (BSL) tomorrow, starting around 10:45am in the Bourke Street Mall outside Myer and heading up to the Parliament steps. Sorry for the late notice. instead of deciding it's just too cold, please consider the innocent, well behaved family pets who have been, and will be seized and killed in Victoria simply due to being born with an 'unpopular appearance'. And take a coat and umbrella to this worthy cause!
05.01.2022 To all dog lovers...
05.01.2022 This 7 year old girl is a champion for animals. Enjoy!
02.01.2022 URGENT HOME NEEDED FOR TOM This beautiful boy has seen some rough times, but his spirits haven't been damaged. If you want a character then Tom is your boy. Tom loves life, he talks, chirrups, sneezes, coughs and cuddles. He even enjoys watching the footy. He loves company of people but gets a bit anxious around other animals. He has had a tough start to life as he's been a stray on the streets before ending up in the pound - as you can tell from his pictures but he's a lover... not a fighter and unfortunately seems to have come off second best. He may not look perfect but we think he is perfect in every way. If you would like to give Tom a new home then please apply online here: http://www.halfwayhome.org.au/adoptions/cats/adopt-tom.htm While we wait for Tom to find his perfect new home, we are also looking for a foster home. If you're able to give Tom a place to stay until his permanent home is found, please apply to foster him, here: http://www.halfwayhome.org.au//foster-care-application-for NOTE: Please do not reply via this post if you're able to help as there are checks and other steps that have to be done before a new home can be confirmed. PLEASE SHARE Thank you
02.01.2022 Please share and help get Sasha home. She was only adopted 4 weeks ago so she is still new to the area and doesn't know her way home.
