14.01.2022 In 1952 the Altadonna brothers ran a dairy at Macknade. Peter Marinoni was the milkman & delivered milk to the township & Macknade Mill.The Marinoni Family rent...ed one of Altadonna Bros houses. Peter had a big fowl house with lots of chooks & ducks. During the wet season the Herbert River flooded, there was a big commotion from the fowl house with chooks & ducks sqwaking & ducks making frightened noise. Peter went to the fowl house with the Hurricane lamp & the Shotty. A crocodile ate 4 or 5 ducks, but fowls were high on the perch & the croc couldnt reach them. Im not sure if he got one barrell or two. He used to deliver milk with an old Whippet in a billy can. I enjoyed listening to him telling the story. RIP Peter. See more
