25.01.2022 On Friday, 20th November, Year 11 Physics students were privileged to have a very special guest join the class - Qantas A380 Captain, Richard De Crespigny. Captain De Crespigny was in command of Qantas Flight QF32 from Singapore to Sydney in 2010 when the left inboard engine experienced a catastrophic uncontained engine failure shortly after take-off. The debris of the engine caused massive damage to other parts of the A380 including hydraulic and electrical critical systems.... Thanks to the experience and skills of Captain De Crespigny and his crew, they managed to return to Singapore's Changi Airport. The aircraft eventually returned to service after repairs that took 18 months to complete at a cost of around $200 million. Captain De Crespigny not only answered many questions related to Aerospace and the QF32 incident, but also gave students a very powerful and inspiring message about resilience, determination, coping with stress and anxiety and the importance of STEM education. We extend our sincere thanks to Captain Richard De Crespigny for giving us his time so generously and for sharing his amazing story.

18.01.2022 We turned it on for Hallam Senior College last week- three talks, 160 students and a lot of eggs... if we let our youth know it’s okay to talk about mental health issues then it may help them in the future.

13.01.2022 Year 12 Last Day Celebrations Today we farewelled our Year 12's with an un-traditional COVID-safe Farewell breakfast. Well done on managing what has been a challenging year. Even though they spent more days learning remotely than at school this year, we know going through such a challenging year has developed their resilience and character. We are so glad you could come back together to finish off your schooling. Best of luck in the coming weeks for those sitting exams. Enjoy your celebrations and thank you for your positive contribution to Hallam Senior College. https://youtu.be/aSYXF5XnGlo
