07.01.2022 To all our valued patrons As per the venue's increased outdoor capacity and additional increased group bookings the following government regulation will be implemented. Compulsory Digital Sign-In Requirements from 23 November... As you may have seen from recent media reports, the NSW Government has announced that, from 23 November, it will become mandatory for venues to use electronic entry recording measures to record persons entering the premises. As previously advised, this is currently mandatory for those venues wishing to take advantage of the 2 square metre rule for outdoor spaces and 30 person group booking rule, and will be expanded across the board from 23 November. We have received a number of queries as to whether a QR code/mobile phone scan-in system will be mandatory, with some concern raised about areas with limited mobile phone coverage and/or patrons without phones or QR code capabilities. We have raised these concerns with the Government and are pleased to report on a satisfactory outcome for those regional and remote members facing these issues. While the revised Public Health Order is yet to be published, the NSW Government have advised as follows: The Government’s preference is that businesses use the QR code system through the Service NSW smartphone application. Venues can however elect to adopt or continue to utilise an alternative QR code system (a reminder that you can access our register of industry suppliers here. It is our understanding that most members have such systems already in place, in which case no action or change will be required. Importantly, for those venues or patrons without the ability to utilise QR code sign in, other digital recording techniques (e.g. an excel spreadsheet) will be an acceptable and compliant means of recording patron details on entry Please note that using a paper based sign in system, even if it is then transcribed into a digital form, will no longer be acceptable from 23 November.
