12.01.2022 Hallora Fire Brigade attended the Beyond The Valley music festival for 2019 held at Lardner Park on 30 and 31 December. We would like to thank the Beyond The Valley organisers for supporting us to attend. Members of the brigade conducted a tin rattle through the campsites seeking much needed funds to enable the brigade to continue to operate and to help us to purchase and update our equipment. The brigade is particularly looking to purchase educational equipment to help sup...port training at the South Drouin Station. Over 10 members of the brigade conducted the tin rattle during very hot weather collecting funds from the attendees. Members walked from campsite to campsite explaining that we were from the local fire brigade and were fund raising for the brigade. As a result of their efforts over $11,000 was collected. All of our collectors were blown away at the generosity of the young people attending the festival. We were warmly welcomed at each campsite and the collection tins filled rapidly. As we walked through the campsites people would chase after us to give donations. The atmosphere around the campsites especially on the 31st December was vibrant and everyone appeared to be having a great time. A number of the patrons were members of other brigades or had relatives or friends who were involved with the CFA, however for most of the patrons this was the first time they had any personal contact with the CFA and many questions were asked. We were continually thanked for the great work that we did, and this was very heartening for our members. Some came up to us saying they had family or friends being impacted by the fires in East Gippsland or around the country. The Hallora and District Fire Brigade would like to express our gratitude to everyone who donated so generously to our cause. Our small rural brigade would not be able to raise sufficient funds from the community alone to continue to develop. This festival provides a relatively safe environment for the patrons and enables us to build awareness of the CFA and to obtain the funds needed to protect our community into the future at no cost to the community. 11.01.2022 Hallora Fire Brigade recently took delivery of a new Ford Ranger which will become the brigades new operational support vehicle. The purchase of this vehicle is the culmination of a process which began about 5 years ago when the brigade identified a need for a vehicle to replace the brigades quick fill trailer and to provide general support at incidents. The vehicle was purchased from the brigades fundraising activities and would not have happened without the efforts of our m...embers and the support of our community. The vehicle will now be customised for use and should be operational in the near future. We would like to thank Shaun Donaldson, Dealer Principal at the Ford dealership for his assistance and for the generous donation of $500 to the brigade. See the attached photos of Captain Garry Morgan taking delivery of the vehicle and receiving the donation. See more

05.01.2022 Last summer was really challenging for Gippsland, and we know that some people are feeling worried about the season ahead. DELWP want you to know that your emergency service agencies are working closely together and we are well prepared. Here’s a snapshot of some of the work that has been happening behind the scenes.... For more information about how to stay safe this summer, visit www.emergency.vic.gov.au or call the Vic Emergency hotline on 1800 226 226.

04.01.2022 HALLORA AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY MEETING On Sunday 29 December at 10am a community briefing will be held at the Drouin South Fire Station This is to provide information on the worsening fire situation in East Gippsland and to advise of the procedures being put in place concerning the operations of the Hallora and District Fire Brigade and the CFA in the coming months. Information will be provided as to what the community can expect from your brigade and what every household should know in what is expected to be a long and difficult fire season.

03.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who attended the community meeting held on 29 December 2019 at the Drouin South Fire Station. We were blown away by the amount of interest considering the meeting was called at such short notice. This is a testament to the power of social media and gives us faith that our newly established facebook page is worthwhile. Our Captain, Garry Morgan gave a briefing of the then situation with the fires in East Gippsland and the role the Hallora brigade would l...ikely play. It was explained that one of our two trucks may be called away to participate on strike teams and the other may at times be responding to incidents up to one hour away so residents should ensure they have their fire plans prepared and to be self-sufficient as a truck may not be able to attend. There was a general discussion around livestock safety and other local issues. Residents were reminded that for a fire truck to attend their properties it was important to clear an area of 4 metres wide and 4 metres high on entryways to enable access. House and property numbers should also be prominently displayed to enable quick identification from the road of property locations. Further community meetings will be considered depending on the events as they develop. Clive Langdon Community Engagement Officer See more
