25.01.2022 Getting that close up photo with Lulu Keep an eye out for our beautiful reptile friends during these warmer days. If you are ever lucky enough to see one - don’t panic. Back away to a safe distance and your unexpected visitor will move on. Contrary to popular belief, snakes don’t actually want anything to do with us. A snake will only bite if it feels threatened. Here at Halls Gap Zoo we love all our reptiles and hope to educate and raise awareness about them so we can all appreciate these amazing animals

08.01.2022 CUTE FOOTAGE BELOW: BABY LEMUR IS GETTING ADVENTUROUS Sharing some footage of our beautiful lemur family in celebaration of World Lemur Day yesterday. Now over a month old the little one is starting to explore its surroundings and playing around with Mum and Dad. It is such a pleasure to watch this little one grow up and even more special as Ring-tailed lemurs are classified as endangered with their population declining in the wild. World Lemur Day is a day to raise awaren...ess and celebrate this group of very unique and diverse primates. There are over a hundred different species of lemurs and they are only found on the island of Madagascar. With sadly almost a third of these listed as critically endangered. #DYK: Lemurs are not actually a monkey. Although they are found in the same big family as monkeys (Primates), Lemurs are what we call Prosimians. They are considered to have characteristics that are more primitive. This group of primates also include lorises, bushbabies, and tarsiers. #HolidayHereThisYear #WorldLemurDay #SeeAustralia
