13.01.2022 Dearest friends of Cassandra Emary, Please join us at SANGA's PICNIC! (Sanga is Cass's family name)... Cass touched the lives of so many of us, with laughter, adventure, love and fun. Please join us in bringing all her communities together to share her love. Below are all the details as well as her families invite to please come and share your love and stories. Its a long post but please find all the information here, we look forward to sharing this day of love with you. From Sue Emary & Colin Emary (Parents); Dearest community as we settle back home in Australia it has been gently bought to our attention the need for people that have been so deeply touched by Cassandras passing to have a chance to honour our daughter. To many of you she was referred to as 'Cass' and to a select few like Colin and myself we had the honour of referring to her as 'Sanga' a name she chose for herself as a baby. Fondly enough we have come to learn that in Nepal the word 'Sanga' means community....... In Sanga's short life she managed to engage herself in many different communities; which include her Steiner school, Emerald Secondary School, calisthenic, horse riding, Corowa waterskiing, rock climbing, scouting, outdoor recreational, white water rafting and kayaking, travelling and her Nepali community just to name a few. Sanga's passing is like no other, Sanga' s story is like no other. She is the first westerner to what we feel, be bestowed the honour of a traditional Nepali cremation. In line with this chosen theme we feel to keep things a little bit different. Over the coming months there will be several different services/ gatherings held in her honour. We are very mindful that Christmas is just around the corner. We are in no rush to have a formal memorial service. With Sanga's love and guidance I am in the process of creating a vision. We are clear that 108 people will be invited to hold this formal space. We trust this process of selection and it will be made very clear who needs to be there. Where does that leave everybody else you may ask...... We would like to invite you to an open house on Saturday the 22nd of Dec from 10am to 7pm. Come and gather on our land, share a meal, sing some songs, dance and respectfully share, celebrate and honour 'Cassandra Elise Emary' Wet weather alternatives have been planned should she decide to rain on her parade..... Laura Oakley has kindly volunteered to organise this. I ask that you all be mindful that the following day Colin and I are hosting my family Christmas gathering. My sense is that there will be a need to host a few community gatherings including Cairns in May for the world rafting championships of which Cass was an appointed team member. We all loved Sanga / Cass she is a true inspiration......a legend. Her grandmother describes her as a 'Mother Theresa' of her generation......lets give her a send off like no other. Love and blessings to you all Her very proud mum and dad Colin and Sue Please help us share the following details: Date: 22 December 2018 Time: 10am until 7pm Location: Cass's family home in Gembrook. Her family do not wish to post their address publicly on FB but would love for you to send us a message and we will get the details to you. We would also love for you to pass this information between any other friends who wish to come (saves us some texts ;) ). Please send us a text so we can get back to you all easily. Ian is available from now until her picnic and I am available until the 17th of Dec and then again on the day of her picnic (I am away 17-21Dec to be with my mum). Contact: Ian Thorne 0407334499 Laura Oakley 0417827683 What to Expect: The gathering is an outside picnic in the beautiful gardens of her home, we ask you to please give space for inside of her houseto remain for her family. What to Bring: We would love for this to be a community sharing. Please bring a plate of food to share, a picnic rug or chair and your own plate, cultery, cups, and BYO drinks. Her family welcomes you to bring alcohol if you wish (please make sure you have a safe way home). Please help us make this event relaxed for everyone by taking any left over food, dishes and rubbish home with you. It helps us heaps with the clean up xx Honnoring Cass: A place will be set up for anyone to leave letters to her family telling her story and the love and fun you have shared with our beautiful Cass. These stories are great gifts to her parents and we will also provide a space and paper should you wish to share further on the day. Parking: Please if you can car pool as much as possible and creatively arrange shuttles from gembrook if you can with others. Parking at the property is very limited, the neighbours have some space and we will have people available with cars to help shuttle drivers between Gembrook and her home. Ideally if you drop everyone off at the top of the driveway (with gear, food, drinks etc) and then we can pick up just the drivers who can park in Gembrook that would be amazing :) In the early stage of the day we will have someone at the driveway to help organize this, as the day goes on just come down and find one of us at the house :) Entertainment: We intent to have a beautiful soul come with a guitar and help us create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. However if your musically talented and would like to add to this we would love you to also share in making this day really special. My guitar and maddle(Nepali drum)will be available to anyone who wishes to play and we encourage you to bring instrument, outside games and all your love. Accommodation: Gilwell park in Gembrook have offered free camping to anyone who is travelling a long distance and would like to camp in Gembrook. If you would like to camp please let Ian Thorne know and he will give you the details. (Number in contacts above) Please help us tell people: We are unable to access Cass's FB and know her community is wide, please help us get the message to all her friends by sharing this on your page, in groups and by messaging people you know. Thank you.

12.01.2022 FOTM EVENT, Attached below the Draft flyer. Please feel free to share. FOTM is also seeking lecturers for the event. Here's the letter. Please also pass this ar...ound!: Hi, I’m Jeffe Aronson, president of Friends of the Mitta. We’re holding an event on Saturday, October 7th at Anglers Rest on the MItta at Anglers Rest. During the day, volunteer groups will be working on restoration and other projects along the Mitta Mitta in conjunction with Parks Victoria. In the evening we’re holding a fundraising event. As a 42 year veteran of river running all over the world, and currently rowing dories in the Grand Canyon and teaching swiftwater rescue for SSI and guiding for LaTrobe University, I’ve both created and participated in many guide and paddler events over the years. The best ones incorporate interpretive lectures to help river runners learn about their area’s history, geology, animals, plants and more. I’d like our event to be a catalyst for sharing more information about the Mighty Mitta with paddlers and guides, who in turn can then Pass It Forward to their friends, clients and students. In this way, more people learn about our magical wilderness area and river, and are more likely to help protect, preserve and care for it in future. I’d like to ask you to pass my request for lecturers along via whatever conduit seems appropriate. In specific I’m searching for lecturers in: Geology Botany Birds and/or other Fauna Aboriginal history Settler &/or Miner history Environmental health (which could include things like water quality, visitation impacts, Leave No Trace, etc.) Ideas for any other subject of potential interest to a paddling/outdoor education community. We can also use this event as a catalyst for future school projects. Once we have a list of interested lecturers we’ll set up a schedule for the evening of the 7th. We’ll have a PA and outdoor stage. Lecturers will receive kudos, as well as free food and beer, music, a free raffle ticket for a waterproof river bag, the opportunity to bid on incredible items such as a 4-day Zambezi river trip, a 1-day Navua river trip in Fiji, local accomodation, a free Mitta river trip the following day (Sunday) and more. My wife Carrie and I will also be happy to offer a night’s accomodation (for some other weekend) at our place on the Bundara river. I’d appreciate if you could post this where your staff and professors can see it, and otherwise pass it along. Any interest should be directed to myself at this email address: [email protected]. I’m in the Sates at present and on the river a lot, so please be patient for a response. If its urgent please contact my wife Carrie at: [email protected] We’re really looking forward to the event, as well as helping our community Up Their Interp" skills. cheers, Jeffe Aronson (Skype local phone for messages: 03-9005 7010)
