25.01.2022 HAMI HELPS/COOBY CARES PRESENTATION POSTPONED Hey everyone. Unfortunately the lovely Gary Allen is not well and won't be able to come to the Hub tomorrow night to talk to us about Cooby Cares. He'll come to another meeting instead and we'll let you all know when it's going to be. The Hami Hill Community Group meeting will still be taking place, at the Hub, 7pm, Wed 8th and there are lots of other local things to talk about so we'd love to see you there anyway.

24.01.2022 Very sad to read this post but big thank you to Gurtbeef for his actions this morning. Syringes in a playground? That's about as low as you can go.

23.01.2022 This pretty bird flew into East Hami Hill primary school on Tuesday afternoon. Don't know if it made its way home after that but just now it has been found on Enright Reserve. Stephanie Cardwell has kindly rescued it and taken it home. If it's yours - or you know who it belongs to - please send her a PM.

23.01.2022 Hi there, we would like to introduce our new Holistic GP practise at Port Coogee. Looking forward to meeting you and transforming your health. Check out our website at sanctuarywellnessandmedical.com.au

22.01.2022 We're more than a little bit excited that we've got a new bakery in Hami Hill - Bayview Bakery. It's a couple of doors down from the Pear Tree and open from 7am to 1pm, Wednesday thru Saturday - they may start opening earlier in the week if it all works out. We tried the apple & almond, and the apricot & almond tartlets. Sooooo good.

22.01.2022 Hamilton Hill Community Group's monthly meeting takes place tomorrow, Wednesday 12th, 7pm @ The Hub (1 Starling St)

22.01.2022 Happy Tuesday everyone. Reminder that our (Hami Hill Community Group) AGM takes place tomorrow night at 7pm at the Hub, 1 Starling Street. Wed love you all to come along and hear about what weve been up to, see if youd like to get involved - have a drink with us! Well provide some refreshments but please feel free to BYO as we dont know how many people are coming AND . . . . Have you seen that work is starting at the Senior High School site? Exciting!

21.01.2022 Happy Monday everyone. In case you are interested and havent seen it yet, the draft study for the Aboriginal and Early European Heritage Study of Dixon Park/Hamilton Hill Swamp Precinct is available for download at https://spaces.hightail.com/space/oSh9CUVcdl The consultation period has been pushed out to 30th June now and you can send any feedback to the consultants, Terra Rosa, at [email protected]... Its a really interesting read and theres some fascinating information and history in there. We are hoping that after the consultation period is finished that there will be some minor changes made to the study. For example, we would like to see Dixon Reserve included within the boundaries of the sites outlined as of significant aboriginal cultural and heritage value. The report shows that Dixon Reserve is part of the area as set out by Traditional Owners as "a mythological site, water source, camping and hunting grounds, massacre site and natural feature." In addition, it was Midgiegooroos summer campground, Yagan was seen there, it is a high ceremonial area and the cultural values of the Waugal lie beneath. And whilst the land has been disturbed it remains a wetland it floods every year. It is a current swamp not a former swamp so we would also like to see this reflected in the description on the maps in as current swamp or existing swamp. Wed also like to see signage trails through the whole area, curtilage around Randwick Stables included in any heritage listing, that acknowledgement be considered for the site of Sydney Smiths dwelling as this was the first known address in Hamilton Hill and that all Tuart and Banksia trees of significance be listed in the study, as well as their location documented on a map. If you agree with any of these suggestions or have any other thoughts then please do send your feedback to the email address above. As always, the more people who comment the more likely things are to happen. Thanks!

21.01.2022 Very generous offer from the Lions Club . . . . .

21.01.2022 Hey everyone - don't forget this is happening this next Wednesday evening @ The Hub. It should be really interesting - we're particularly interested in measures you can take to turn an existing home into a Passive House . . . hope to see you there :)

20.01.2022 Garage sale trail this weekend peeps and look what we've got happening in HH!!

20.01.2022 Hey Hami Hill peeps, happy Tuesday. We had our AGM last week and a couple of our committee have stepped down, while a couple of others have stepped up. One of the great things about being part of a community group is the way in which people come and go, ebb and flow, depending on how much time they have, whats going on in their lives . . . and while its always sad when people go, sometimes they come back, and there always seem to be new amazing humans ready to step up which... is pretty awesome. Just want to say some heartfelt thanks and introduce you to the new team. First off we want to thank our outgoing treasurer Sofie de Meyer for being an all round star and for doing a truly amazing job. Shes not completely leaving us (hurrah), shell still be involved but she just has so much else on that shes needs to prioritise and give something up. Committee member Linda Butcher has also resigned because shes moving to the country in a few months but, like Sofie, although shes not actually on the committee any more, shell still be involved. So while we thank them for everything theyve done, were also very thankful that theyre not really leaving us. Going back to the ebb and flow . . . were incredibly fortunate that past secretary and all round community champion extraordinaire Sajni Gudka has (officially) come back to our fold as treasurer. The photos attached to this post are from Saturdays amazing Greening Greenslade launch. Its fair to say that without Sajni this probably wouldnt have happened. She was also a chief instigator for the Simms Road shopping centre mural and the Dodd Street parklet amongst many other cool initiatives welcome back Sajni, cant wait to see what your next project is! Another formal announcement is Cath Lumsden coming in as our secretary. She joined us a couple of months ago with no fan-fair and is already proving herself to be an invaluable member of the team thanks Cath, we feel incredibly lucky to have you. Were delighted to welcome two other new members to the committee: Martin Silk and Samma Solovey; very happy you are with us. We are also delighted that long standing committee members Jozina de Ruiter, Alicia Krueger and Scott Bevan are hanging in there. You guys totally rock and were lucky to have you working so hard for our amazing suburb. Thank you. More delight because our lovely dep chair Emma-Leigh Synnott has signed on for another year thank you Emma-Leigh your passion for our suburb, our community and the environment is inspiring. And finally me, Phoebe Corke. Im staying on as chair for another year We live in one of the most amazing places on earth. I think all the committee feels privileged to be able to work with such an amazing, passionate, caring and talented community. Hami Hill totally rocks yay us.

20.01.2022 Oh yes... Its back... right here in Hamilton Hill. Do yourself a favour, treat yourself to an amazing evening in our suburb. #thehill6163

19.01.2022 Remember that duck? She's out and about again, this time at Chrissy Barton's house. PM her if she's yours . . .

19.01.2022 Do you remember that about a year ago we were asking you what projects you'd like us to apply for in the annual round of City funding for ideas from community groups? The overwhelmingly top choice was for beautification through greening of our suburb entrances. Two locations were chosen - and this happened this week. For next year's funding we've asked for more of the same in other places. It's been pretty awesome driving past this week, seeing this coming together and knowing that we, this community, made this happen. And now we can watch it grow and as the trees grow tall we can be just a little bit proud. Yay us! And huge thanks to the parks department at the City who did the actual designs and the hard yakka.

18.01.2022 Can you fix it? Yes they can!!! Tomorrow, 10am . . .

17.01.2022 Our next, in person, meeting is Wednesday week, 8th July, 7pm @ TheHub. For details check out our latest newsletter - link below. Hope to see some of you there.

13.01.2022 As part of the high school development there is a swathe of bush being cleared below the power lines in the north west corner of the Stock Road/Forrest Road interchange. The area is shown on the map below and clearing will commence today, be completed this week and salvaged material will be mulched for reuse on the site. The area has been trapped; balgas (grass trees) have been removed - photos below. We went and looked at the trapping and it was extremely well done. If you have any queries or concerns please let us know - we've asked a lot of questions and received very comprehensive answers back from Development WA and the consulting ecologists so hopefully will have an answer for you. Thanks.

12.01.2022 It's taken five years of community consultation, research and planning but the draft concept plan for the installation of safe, accessible mountain bike trails at Manning Park is finally complete. There's one final chance to comment:
