25.01.2022 Day 5 of the Post a Painting a Day challenge. Sort of This is another small artwork I did as an exercise in a long ago Brisbane Institute of Art workshop. The reference photo was by Steve Parish. I am fond of this painting as it was the first time I had tried to paint clouds, reflections and water. Something definitely resonated with me because a lot of my current work has at least one of these components https://www.buyartnow.com.au/catherine-hamilton-jones
25.01.2022 Just sharing a few Bribie Island memories. My dad lives on Bribie and when I visit him I always take lots of reference photos for painting inspiration. Its a chance for me to get a good fix of ocean and the beach without having to go too far from Brisbane https://www.buyartnow.com.au/catherine-hamilton-jones #strongertogether

They have a selection of my artworks on display at the Gallery at 11 Cambridge Parade, Manly QLD. These works include several new paintings that I have recently completed. 20.01.2022 About a week ago I accepted a social media challenge from my artist friend the very talented Cecily Slade. I am supposed to post one painting a day on Facebook and Instagram for seven days. I have been a bit slack in starting the challenge - but better late than never has always been a favourite motto of mine - so here goes....Day 1 - this is Stradbroke Evening - painted as an exercise in a workshop I did at The Brisbane Institute of Art in 2005. This work is special to me as it was one of the first paintings I did after taking a long break from painting for a number of years. This workshop got me started on my fascination with painting clouds and water
20.01.2022 Gorgeous florals and lovely shades of pink

14.01.2022 DO YOU LOVE ART AND MUSIC? Heres the story.... Local compose , Wendy Turner has been living in Redcliffe for four years. Recently she has teamed up with Brisba...ne artist, Cecily Slade to make an incredibly beautiful DVD of Art with Music intended to calm the mind. The partnership began when Wendy saw an art work by Cecily at the Old Fire Station and decided to buy it. It was called Unfolding Joy and had such beauty that Wendy felt music should go with it. There began the DVD where there are films of seven paintings of flowers accompanied by seven pieces or orchestral music written by Wendy. Wendy has also written music for the Sharon Alback ballet concert and assisted with a musical for the Mousetrap Theatre. She has also written a major orchestral work inspired by the Australian artist, Sydney Long. This work is scheduled for performance in an art gallery in Northern New South Wales in October. Before moving here Wendy Worked at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium of Music where she taught music and wrote several works for the youth orchestra, wrote a musical for the local theatre as well as arranging music to sell on the web. One arrangement was performed by a British Brass band and recorded by the BBC in London and performed on television in London. These DVDs make a wonderful gift for yourself or someone else. As exhibitions are cancelled you can currently acquire one from Cecily by sending a message here. They are $20 plus postage. 12.01.2022 Day 4 of the challenge. I am sort of cheating a bit here since this artwork is not quite finished. I think it is shaping up well and I thought you might enjoy this progress photo. The working title is Sand Shadows. This is a painting of the view across Pumicestone Passage at Bribie Island in the late afternoon. Looking forward to posting the finished work soon https://www.buyartnow.com.au/catherine-hamilton-jones #strongertogether
12.01.2022 Waynes work is just extraordinary. He achieves the most detailed and beautiful work with carving his designs and block printing. So very talented
12.01.2022 Ive been in a bit of a green mood for the past few days and have gone back to this unfinished work of Mossman Gorge in far North Queensland. It has a fair way to go but all the colours and branches remind me of several other works of mine. You can see them at - https://www.buyartnow.com.au/catherine-hamilton-jones I always thought my favourite colour was blue - but looks like green comes in a close second #strongertogether

07.01.2022 I love Noosa National Park. It has provided a lot of subject matter for me over the years. There is something very special about the colours in the water, the classic Pandanus trees clinging to the cliff edges and the beautiful cloud formations that you often see over Laguna Bay. 05.01.2022 Today is the last day of the 20% off sale on reproductions on Buy Art Now. For something different I thought I would post a slideshow of painting progression for one of my paintings The Next Wave. This painting was inspired by a morning walk along Palm Beach on the Gold Coast on a summer holiday. I was enjoying watching the surfers out beyond the breaking waves. They each seemed to be so serene and in tune with the moment. Just floating on the ocean in between each set, pat...iently waiting for the next wave. Click on the link to see prices for this and other reproductions https://www.buyartnow.com.au/catherine-hamilton-jones #strongertogether

02.01.2022 Artist of the day - Cecily Slade https://www.buyartnow.com.au/cecily-slade "I make art because flowers make my heart sing and I am entranced by the magical intr...icate beauty and harmonies that exist in the fine details within nature. My work is conceived to uplift the viewer, it is intensely focused and very time consuming. I work from living flowers and I try breathe life into the work." Viewers are invited to sink into the work like a meditation and open their heart to the beauty and life energy within the bloom. These paintings offer peace, tranquillity and joy. "My paintings are built from many layers of transparent oil paint, each one adding luminosity to the work. Strong contrasts, vibrant pure transparent colour, intense detail and nuances of tone and light are a strong feature of my work. Also present is a strong passion for good design as the basic structure on which the work is conceived. These works are statement pieces, they command a space and create an atmosphere of tranquillity and harmony in the environment in which they exist. #homedecor #interiordesign #artprints #australianartist #artforsale #artgallery #artcollector #fineart #strongertogether #banbarewalls
