25.01.2022 Last week, more than 70 women gathered together at The Northern Star Hotel for The Beaumont Street Winter Fashion Preview. The event not only showcased what Beaumont Street boutiques offer compared to larger chain stores, it also raised money for refugee women's and children's centre Zara's House. Special thank you to all those involved: ... 14.01.2022 Such a shame to see these artworks vandalised so soon after completion. No respect. The Hamilton Chamber paid the lovely Rebecca from Flying Spanners to do this for the street to give it a village appeal and highlight some history. Unfortunately there is no money to fix these now. We will just have to live with this look. Please if you have any information please call Waratah police
14.01.2022 Hotels owned by Hunt Hospitality, including Beaumont Streets The Kent Hotel Hamilton have worked together over the past year to help raise more than $100,000 for the 2019 NSW Variety Bash, which provides funding and assistance for children and families experiencing illness and hardship throughout rural NSW. Congrats!!
13.01.2022 Today Beaumont Street was getting a bit of a makeover with thanks to the team at @NewcastleMen’sShedInc and local artists @rebeccamurray. The mosaic planters are being turned into handy seating. Our photo shows the one near @lotusboutique. While Rebecca was adding some beautiful history to a power box near @TheKent with her interpretation of a dog circus that was located at that spot before the hotel was constructed.
12.01.2022 Have your say about the use of BIA special rate levy Commercial property owners across Newcastle LGA, including Hamilton, currently pay a Business Improvement Association (BIA) special rate levy in addition to the normal council rates. Historically these funds have been directed to Chambers to run activities that promote and benefit the local businesses who are paying these rates. Now the City of Newcastle is now proposing to take control of these funds. Watch this video fro...m Nathan Errington, President of Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, who talks about this issue and how you can have your say by clicking the link to this survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5CVXMPQ
06.01.2022 Monday, March 16, 2020 MEDIA STATEMENT NO HAMILTON CARNIVALE... The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce refutes and dismisses the media release made by Newcastle Council on its website on the 12th March 2020. -Newcastle Council recently stated that a number of Chamber directors resigned. This is totally false. More accurately, some directors chose not to stand due to the termination of SBR funding. To publicly announce such resignations on its website and link those resignations to Hamilton Carnivale is mischievous and irrelevant. -Newcastle Council special Business Rate Expression of Interest Guidelines published in July 2019 outlined in item 5.2. those groups that are ineligible for funding. Point 5.2.13 states Applicants who have had a previous funding or service Agreement with CN terminated due to a breach of the agreement are ineligible. To now state that the Hamilton Chamber chose not to apply for funding is a gross misrepresentation. -Despite the above, and, subsequent to the above guidelines being published, the General Manager, Jeremy Bath in a television interview, gave a ‘Rock Solid Guarantee that Carnivale would go ahead in 2020. Despite this guarantee, there is no Carnivale and the Lord Mayor distanced herself publicly from her General Managers comments in last week’s media. -Carnivale has been run for many years by the Hamilton Chamber. The Chamber and its professional event managers raised more than $75,000 in sponsorship each year to supplement the Hamilton Chambers contribution. This created one of the largest attended community events in the region with over 30,000 in attendance as well as providing local business’s a boost of in excess of $500,000 in business. The sponsors and the community quite obviously saw benefit in the event. -The Hamilton precinct has no Business Improvement Association to provide the businesses of Hamilton the elements of the IPART funding agreement of Business Improvement, Business Promotions and Street Beautification. (Talk of a business group is just that, talk!). Newcastle Council, collects in excess of $130,000 in special Benefit Rate from Hamilton land owners, and thus businesses, however no funds yet have been spent in Hamilton since the funding agreement with Hamilton Chamber was terminated on the 24th May 2019. The Hamilton Chamber and the Hamilton Business community want to know where this money is? -How is Newcastle Council going to compensate Hamilton Business for the loss of a major revenue event? The Hamilton Chamber had worked with Newcastle Council on collaborative basis for 8 years prior to the termination of its funding agreement. It would appear as if Collaborative Leadership is either non-existent or in a state of disarray. One wonders why Newcastle Council continues on a path of discrediting the Hamilton Chamber and its volunteer members.
