23.01.2022 Here is a fun activity for you to do in the school holidays Decorate rocks with positive messages and bright pictures and leave them where they can be seen to spread some kindness to people who may need it. Materials Needed Rocks of different shapes and sizes. Smooth, flat rocks tend to work the best... Non-toxic paint Clear sealant/PVA glue Paint brushes Painting sponges Paint pens (optional) Help Needed Girls of all ages should be able to do most of this activity on their own. Girls under 8 may need help finding and writing messages. Instructions Gather rocks of various shapes and sizes Paint a bright and happy picture or paint/write a positive quote or message on your rock get creative! Let the rocks dry Seal the rocks with clear sealant or PVA glue and let dry Place your finished rocks outside where people can see them. This could be outside your Guide Hall, at the edge of your front yard, or in the local park but make sure you check if you need permission before leaving them in a public place. See more

19.01.2022 UPDATE, Thursday, 10 September, 6pm: Wow, Central Coast - thank you for your support! We have been overwhelmed by registrations. As a result, the initial 2,000 ...places in the Curby soft plastics trial are now full! Those accepted into the trial will receive a confirmation email by Friday 18 September. We know it will be disappointing for those who missed out on being part of the trial. However, if you have registered your interest, we will keep you updated on its progress. You will also be the first to know if we are able to expand the Curby program to all the Central Coast. Please note that the selection of households to participate in the Curby trial is partly based on having a representation of suburbs across the Coast. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Help us stop soft plastics going into landfill and our waterways! We're looking for 2,000 Central Coast households to join our trial to divert "scrunchable" household plastics like chip packets, cling wrap, food packaging and chocolate wrappers from landfill. Every participating household will receive special "Curby" bags and tags to store their soft plastics. These will be collected with the fortnightly yellow recycling bin. Instead of going into landfill, the soft plastics will be used in a number of ways, such as being converted into the oils and chemicals they were made from or used to create long-wearing products such as bollards, decking, outdoor furniture or signs. Registration for the trial closes 30 September. Join now at www.curbythebilby.com.au #cccwaste #ourcoastourwaste #centralcoastcouncil #centralcoastnsw #reducereuserecycle #wastemanagement #closingtheloop
