15.01.2022 A poem for Anzac Day. His stood at attention his mates by his side, His heart full of honor his mind full of pride, He marches on forward to the beat of a drum,... And then sounds the bugle the war has begun. He runs to the trenches he doesn't look back, He's pulling the trigger they're under attack. He's dodging and weaving he's running like hell, he stops for a moment and then hits the smell. Chaos surrounds him he can't hear a thing, But all he can smell is death settling. And as time went on he lived in this war, It took some good mates and injured some more. He thought he was brave he knew he was tough, but what he went through was more than enough. Enough to feel weak enough to feel small, enough to feel broken war took it all. It took all his hopes it took all his dreams, it filled them with red and torturous screams, For what this man saw can not be unseen. Lest we forget X
