20.01.2022 Hi to all our AMC friends! It has been 4 weeks since our last post so here the update on progress I know a lot of you are following this build on Gary Hammond 72 Amc Javelin Restoration... Body stripped to a bare shell Made brackets to mount body to our new toy (rotisserie) which makes life easy The under body and engine bay has been media blasted very happy with this procedure. ... Under floor and engine bay hand sanded and now etched primed. The only rust repaired required was in the w/screen recess. This week has been spent with Gary and the team building the street / strip 401 engine some specs in the engine for those interested are: Engine Balanced Crank grind 010/010 dialled in Bored 030 using a torque plate Wiseco prostreet pistons installed New Iske Cam with rollmaster timing gear kit New alloy Edelbrock Cylinder Heads New alloy Air Gap manifold Regards Mark Hammond and Gary Hammond See more

05.01.2022 Had another good week of progress on the Javelin. Body sanded back to bare metal on exterior and etch primed. No body filler at all found on the body. Very happy with the result! Cleaned all suspensioncomponents and sanded , etch primed and painted in Satin Black. Replaced ball joints with Moog brand and 1 was still original and riveted. Replaced all upper and lower control arm bushes with Moog brand. Time to start on the Rear diff rebuild... Very Happy with the progress and can’t wait to start bolting her back together! 04.01.2022 Hi all here is an update on the Javelin project,the roller rockers arrived so was able to install and set guide plates in the edelbrock heads correctly set pre load on lifters fit air gap manifold Almost sealed up now Stripped rear diff to bare housing some one had removed the original hemisphere and replaced with a trac lock hemi it appeared To be ok the pin fit was ok But decided to strip down thank god I did... 1 side gear thrust washer was not even there and the other washer was flogged out Clutch packs are ok so replaced side gear thrust washers and re assembled,fitted all new bearings and collapsible spacer checked backlash 010 Mesh pattern within tolerance,fitted new axle bearings and seals set the very slight preload on axles ready for Brakes shoes and resleeved s/steel w/cyls Waiting on paint Shop now to get finished colour on so we can get my car back together Getting closer And can’t wait until she is back on the road Cheers Gary Hammond & Mark Hammond #Hammond4wdTyres&More #Since74 See more
