14.01.2022 Meet Danny Tsun known around the Sydney Music Scene as The Tsunami. The Tsunami is The player for The Marvellous Hearts & specialises in piano and Hammond... Organ! Danny started playing @ 9yo learning classical piano with The Suzuki method which encouraged him to place more emphasis on listening and hearing music rather than reading. This method of learning a musical instrument suited Danny well and unlocked a hidden talent of using his ear to play. Especially since he is visually impaired. Danny suffers from a condition called Colomboma of the eyes which effects one in every 10,000 people and the impact on vision can range from very small to blindness. In his case it goes all the way to the optic nerve so he is considered Legally Blind. At age 11 Danny heard Australian guitar Legend Tommy Emmanuel on his dads CD player and started to learn the tunes with his ear on the piano and then started to recognise the sound of the blues and Rock n Roll Once Danny got the blues he was hooked and never went back. Studying everyone from Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino,Little Richard and the classic licks from his personal favourite Chuck Berrys piano player Johnnie Johnson who he met on a number of occasions and was personally invited by Johnnie to play at The Johnnie Johnson Festival in West Virginia. Danny has thrown in a lot of the treasured Johnnie Johnson style licks on a soon to be released track Get On Up off The forthcoming Marvellous Hearts album out in 2021 stay tuned.
