A light easterly breeze off the Indian Ocean drifting through the open windows. The Mozambique current affords a stream of warmth that infuses year-round tropical vibes. This is a home thats best angle is in the morning sun, the smell of salt in the air infused with freshly ground coffee. A home that takes advantage of every opportunity to inject light and warmth into contemporary living.

13.01.2022 |THE SHETLAND| The Shetland received its namesake from Deception Island, a rugged and inhospitable but enchanting coastline in the South Shetland Isles of Antarctica. The exterior of the Shetland drew inspiration from the monochromatic features inside the fallen caldera. The face brick with its deep blacks and mixtures of matt and glazed surfaces created patterns and subtleties of tone similar to the volcanic geology of the bay.... The lexicon textured render and concrete Venetian plaster pays homage to the natural amphitheater of ash streaked ice-capped mountains. The mature Manchurian Pear tree in the home’s foreground is housed in a raised circular corten garden bed much like the silos utilised in the early exploratory voyages which have now rusted over. But much like entering through the sheer rock walls of Neptune’s Bellows the face brick accompanies you into home, where like the bay, you are met with a particular calmness. In contrast to the straight lines of the facade, the interior consists of curved design elements, warm timber tones and greenery creating a peaceful family refuge.
