08.01.2022 Our community facility, the Arthur Wren Hall is being absorbed/taken over by the City of Casey. It’s with great sadness that the Hampton Park Progress Associati...on (HPPA) which was EST in 1922 will no longer be running the Arthur Wren Hall (AWH) which was completed using HPPA/Community funds and as such is partly owned by the Hampton Park Progress Association, but while the Council have acknowledged this investment, they refuse to compensate or reimburse for. This community hall would NOT have been built without the HPPA investment. HPPA sold their original hall, which they owned outright, that still stands on the cnr of Somerville Rd and Regans Rd and sold the land next door to the Scouts & Girl Guides to start the partnership with City of Cranbourne to get the AWH built, and when the City of Cranbourne could not finish the kitchen, as they ran out of money, the HPPA put in $40,000 cash to finish the kitchen and get it up and running. In total, HPPA invested $180,000 of community money into the building with the understanding that it was to be their permanent home. The Arthur Wren Hall was built by the community, for the community and run by the community. Currently all money made at the Arthur Wren Hall goes back into maintaining it, and towards provision of community events and supporting our community on many different levels. All money made now will go directly back to the City of Casey. Unfortunately, this was the home for the HPPA for the last 26 years and now we are looking for a new home! HPPA have been given its last 30 days’ notice to vacate with no funds to relocate and a blunt refusal to reimburse HPPA for the money invested leaving the HPPA greatly incapacitated to continue providing and supporting our local community as we have for the last 98 years. We will be reviewing all our current assets to ascertain the best way forward to maintaining our commitment to the people of Hampton Park. The HPPA will keep you posted. #HPPA1922 #communitymatters
