25.01.2022 Rotary 2020 Virtual Convention schedule now available...

25.01.2022 Now that Victoria is coming out of lockdown restrictions, it’s time to celebrate. We’re also excited to share Hampton Rotary Club’s involvement in Australian Rotary Health’s #liftthelidwalk during the month of October - Mental Health Month - to raise awareness and funds for youth mental health research. We may still need to be socially distanced, but it hasn't stopped us from getting out! We’ve walked 2.5 million steps so far to raise funds to support research for new progra...ms that help young people with a range of mental illness including anxiety & depression, eating disorders and suicide thoughts and behaviours. An amazing initiative such as Teen Mental Health First Aid, which has now been used by thousands of high school students, would not have started without research funding by Australian Rotary Health. To support the walk and youth mental health research by Australian Rotary Health, you can DONATE hereand make a real difference: https://www.liftthelidwalk.com.au/virtual-hampton-victoria All donations go directly to Australian Rotary Health to fund youth mental health research. #liftthelidonmentalillness #liftthelidwalk

21.01.2022 MESSAGE TO THE BAYSIDE FARMERS MARKET COMMUNITY BAYSIDE FARMERS MARKET - SATURDAY, 21STMARCH - CANCELLED... Rotary and our valued partners put the health and wellbeing of our supporters and the community as our highest priority. Stay healthy and take heed of all the health guidelines. We really appreciate your ongoing support of the market, and the producers who supply all the wonderful fresh produce. We will keep you informed as further updates become available. Thank you for your understanding and we shall look forward to seeing you all back at the market in the near future. Check our website for further updates: www.BaysideFarmersMarket.com.au

16.01.2022 Dear RFM Community, We are extremely concerned about reducing the spread of COVID-19 and are taking this very seriously. This is obviously a highly uncertain a...nd stressful time for everyone - especially as information and advice is evolving very quickly. At this moment, ALL Markets run by Regional Farmers Markets will proceed as usual The current advice is that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure we are acting with a sense of urgency and responsibility to both ourselves and those around us in an effort to minimise the transmission and impact of the virus. The current recommendation (although we appreciate this advice can change) is that only people who had direct contact with an infected person (within 1.5 meters of the person for longer than 15 minutes or in the same room for two hours) need to self-isolate and contact their GP, while everyone else is advised to just continue regular (if not enhanced) hygiene precautions. Obviously If you are unwell (and especially if you are showing any symptoms associated with COVID-19) please seek medical attention and otherwise stay home to look after yourself and DO NOT ATTEND THE MARKET! We will be spreading out the layout of stalls at our Markets as much as we can within each site to help create more space for people to move around. So you may notice some layout changes! Please try not to pack in too tightly when buying and to form a queue with space wherever possible. We will offer some tables and chairs for patrons to use for seating, but these will be disinfected frequently by our management staff and will also be spaced out more than usual. We will continue to post any key updates here as they are considered necessary. Thank you for reading this, and please feel welcome to message us if you have any concerns or questions RFM Management

16.01.2022 Today is RUOK? Day. This is a reminder to regularly check in with those around you (...and those far away) to see how theyre going...and if youre worried about them, start the conversation...

12.01.2022 What a fabulous day we had at the restart of the Bayside Farmers Market this morning. We can't wait to see you back on Saturday 28th November.

08.01.2022 What is the Value of Rotary? Over 100 years in Australia, Rotarians have given their talents, time and money doing good in the world. Has it been worth it? How ...about these 10 Thought Starters? Can you add to the list? 1. $45m donated to Australian Rotary Health over 40 years from all Australian Districts helping address indigenous and mental health issues - saving how many lives and enhancing so many futures 2. The first project resuscitating Scouting after WW1 raised 14,000 pounds in 1921 or the equivalent of $1million+ in 2021 3. If every Rotarian in the past 100 years donated the equivalent of $100, that would approximate $300 million. After leveraging fundraising and matching grants, that may be $1billion++ of making a difference 4. If every Rotarian attended 50% of our weekly meetings with breakfast, lunch or dinner, that pumps $500,000 into the local economy every week, every month, every year for 100 years. 5. What is the community and economic value of all the farmers markets, fun runs and festivals sponsored in 1000+ Rotary communities every year? It must be $millions of fundraising plus creating untold enterprise value for many small businesses. 6. Is it true that Rotary raised $10million as part of the Farmers Aid fundraiser during the recent drought? 7. What is the value to young lives and the economic stimulus that flowed from 60 years of Youth Exchange that now involves 8-9000 students every year (pre or post COVID). A program that started in Australia that must be worth $100million+ in economic value each year around the world. 8. If every Rotarian in the past 100 years volunteered just 1 hour per week, cumulatively that sets a benchmark of 200 million hours of community impact. At $25 per hour, that is worth $5 billion over 100 years and counting 9. What was the value of Rotary urgently delivering 1 million face masks to emergency service workers during the recent bushfire season when supplies were exhausted? 10. Governments save $14,000 each year for every homeless person where Rotary helps find permanent accommodation. How many lives and futures have been saved along with huge savings? You tell me, has it been worth it? Can we create 100 examples of how Rotary has made a quantitative impact on society? Its part of our centenary legacy and a platform to add value for the next 100 years.

Each pack included a range of basic toiletry items as well as some special treats. This project has been part of our Club’s commitment to help support members of our local community, especially at this very difficult time. Using funds raised from the generosity of patrons to our regular events, such as the monthly Bayside Farmers’ Market, we’ve been able to purchase these toiletry items. We would also like to thank @Hampton Discount Chemist, @Simon Kenny Pharmacy and the The Holland Foundation for their support of this project too. Such great community spirit in action! #baysidecommunity

It is programs such as these that truly make a difference to improve the mental health of young people. 04.01.2022 ENDPOLIONOW DECLARATION Today, August 25, the World Health Organisation African Region was officially certified free of wild poliovirus. It is a red-letter" da...y and this certification has come four years after Nigeria, the last polio-endemic country in Africa, recorded its last case of the wild poliovirus! Now that the African region is certified as polio-free, FIVE of the six W.H.O. regions, representing over 90% of the worlds population, will be free of the wild poliovirus. This progress is the result of a decades-long effort across the 47 countries of the African region. It has involved millions of health workers traveling by foot, boat, bike and bus, innovative strategies to vaccinate children amid conflict and insecurity, and a huge disease surveillance network to test cases of paralysis and check sewage for the virus. In 1996 Rotary International and our partners, joined with South African President Nelson Mandela to jumpstart Africas commitment to polio eradication with the launch of the Kick Polio out of Africa campaign. President Mandelas call mobilized African nations and leaders across the continent to step up their efforts to reach EVERY child for immunisation with the polio vaccine. Since 1996, nine BILLION doses of oral polio vaccine have been provided, averting an estimated 1.8 million cases of wild poliovirus on the continent thanks to the dedicated efforts of thousands of Rotarians, health workers, traditional and religious leaders, parents, and country leaders. Rotary and its members have contributed nearly US$980 million to eliminate polio in the African region. These amazing statistics were highlighted during a recent ENDPOLIONOW Zoom meeting involving 60 EPN Coordinators, Rotary senior leaders and Rotary International staff. See more
