15.01.2022 A CALL TO ACTION Dear Bowling Friends, Please could we seek your support of the Lighting Application being discussed at the Council Planning Committee meeting scheduled for 11 August 2020.... Item Name: Hampton RSL Lights Application You might consider making one or more of the following observations; The neighbourhood around the Hampton RSL includes many homes which have existing overhead tennis court lighting, particularly properties in Bolton Avenue. An objector from 20 Bolton Avenue abuts the north boundary of the Hampton RSL and has existing pole mounted tennis court lighting. Objectors from 2 Hardie Street properties currently abut the overhead lighting at 20 Bolton Avenue. The Hampton RSL bowling green has existed since long before most local residents moved to their current addresses. The RSL bowling green previously had overhead lighting to light bowling green. Some objectors raise the issue of noise. There is hardly a quieter sporting activity than lawn bowls. The addition of lighting is not likely to increase the current level of noise. The bowling green lighting will allow the Hampton RSL to offer an activity to a wider range of Hampton residents. Lighting of the bowling green is necessary to maintain the viability of the bowling function and thus the viability of the Hampton RSL. Maintaining the viability of the Hampton RSL is vital to the Hampton community. Please give your favourable consideration to writing to Bayside Council in support of your RSL in the next few days. You may choose to include additional grounds of support to any of those I have listed above. Thank you, hopefully in the not too distant future we may even be able to go down for a barefoot bowl and beverage!
