25.01.2022 Happy New Year to all from HSC. We had a nice little dinner at the clubrooms last night. What's more everyone chipped in and donated some cash for the Red Cross bushfire appeal. Thanks and well done to all of those there. Here's hoping that this years sees more members racing on Sundays, more members at social events, more members volunteering for committee positions and just more members.... HAPPY NEW YEAR! See more

25.01.2022 Well the pandemic is NOT OVER YET! But according to what has been announced, outdoor non contact sport for adults will be allowed. The season's racing will be organised as soon as we can get together. The clubrooms for the moment will remain closed except for toilets and storage areas. SO DON'T GO UPSTAIRS! More news asap.

23.01.2022 Welcome news for some of us. Remember that the club rooms except the toilets are still closed to all members. If you do come down for a sail please remember to be boat ready beforehand. Don't forget to sign the intentions book at the foot of the stairs. Be safe and sail well.

22.01.2022 So have I got your attention ? Good thought I might. With the easing of restrictions in Victoria we'll soon be able to get back to racing on Sundays. However we need to know from YOU the members exactly what kind of races are interesting and exciting for you. It's all too easy to slip back into the same patterns before we had 8 months to think. Also on the cards are social activities. We've organised a few in the past but to be honest the turn up was pretty poor.... Once again tell us what is a good idea to get everybody involved. Now the hit up. Our committee is shrinking slowly, there are members who have been stalwarts for more than a few years, in fact many years. It's not hard work a few meetings and a bit of effort and bingo! So there you have it, all HSC'ers will get an email soon regarding the opening of the club or you can PM me on good old FACEBOOK. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Jim Roberts Vice Commodore See more

18.01.2022 We have an action packed month of sailing this November. After a slow start to the the season in October, we are looking forward to some more stable weather this month.

17.01.2022 Saturday 16th May. A bright sunny day with a enabling northerly got a lot of sailors out on PPB. A certain Sabre and Impulse had a healing sail up around Green Point. There were others from HSC out as well. A very enjoyable day.

16.01.2022 Our last autumn day gave us an opportunity for a social sail. While the clubrooms are still closed the water beckons on a good day. There is no reason to go upstairs while we are still locked down. You still have access to the storage area and toilets and of course your craft and the water. Just remember to sign on and off in the intentions book at the foot of the stairs. John Maddick and myself enjoyed a beautiful couple of hours on the water. The northerly was fairly consistent and the +- 1 metre chop provided a few exciting moments.

15.01.2022 This Sunday HSC is running it aggregate series. This will be the last race till March as we are supporting the World Standard and Radial Championships on the 16th and 23rd Feb. Look forward to seeing you down at the Club.

14.01.2022 Covid19 doesn’t move, people move it. If people stop moving, the virus stops moving, the virus dies. It’s that simple #Stayhome - It could save lives

12.01.2022 Hampton Pier was closed to the public in June due to its ageing structure and lack of ongoing maintenance. A number of local residents and community members participated in a protest on the 17th of June to raise awareness of the issue and how it affects the broader community. An ongoing effort is being made to bring much needed support and funding for the repair and ongoing maintenance of Hampton Pier. If you would like to show your support you can fill out the following petition https://forms.gle/B5ytfNZu5cgMEeuW7

11.01.2022 While Hampton Sailing Club may not be sailing this weekend, there are great opportunities to get some competitive sailing in for the start of the season. Many of our members either volunteer for encouragement or participate, such as the Vinot's pictured below. The forecast is looking promising so if that isn't your speed, come down and get out on the water for a sail over the weekend.

10.01.2022 Ok so we're all hoping to get back on the water,I know l am! Remember that you can come to HSC if it is in your 25km zone only. The upstairs part of the club is still OUT OF BOUNDS! You can only access the mast and sail storage areas and the toilets. NO SHOWERS PLEASE. Maintain social distancing and wear a mask whilst on land. Come to the club ready to sail and don't forget to fill in the intentions book at the foot of the stairs for your own safety. Remember to sail safe, p...referably with another sailor, (separate boats for non family members). To all club members let's keep safe and COVID free. While you're out on the water have a serious think about what more you can do for your club. We need more committee members, it;s not hard, so stay tuned and stay safe. Jim Roberts See more

09.01.2022 Not sure what to do this month. Come down to Hampton Sailing Club and join in on some of the fun social events we have planned this November

09.01.2022 Photos taken last Sunday of the joint HSC and SYC racing on Port Phillip Bay hosted by @hamptonsailingclubaus . Fantastic to see so many boats out on the water enjoying the conditions. Special mention to those who came from other clubs to participate. More photos on our website. @ Hampton Sailing Club

08.01.2022 I knocked this up to help our members who are aiming to do a bit of teaching. The sail is courtesy of the Sabre Dinghy-Owners Group. Thanks guys. Hopefully we'll get some sailing in now that the snap lockdown will be over tomorrow. If the winds be fair I am intending to go down on SATURDAY and try out Sabre1008 Shark Bait.

08.01.2022 A Xmas project.

08.01.2022 We will be asking sailors to do a sweep of our launching area prior to sailing on Sundays. Every little bit helps.

07.01.2022 Well doesn't time fly by. It has been 4 years since we built the square top sail and took the sail to the first Sabre meeting available to have it approved for... testing. A lot of water has passed under many Sabres since then, with 125 sails now sailing Australia wide and sail 126 ordered today. It still makes me smile everytime I get a gust and the little boat pops on a plane. I am sure all those that have tried the sail would agree that it is the best upgrade you can do to your little boat. Happy 4th Birthday Shark! See more

06.01.2022 As per the directions of the Public Health Officer and the State Government, there will be no sailing activities from 11.59pm tonight until 11.59 on Wednesday 17th February. We are back under Stage 4 restrictions which means the club is CLOSED to all. You can only attend the club if you are within 5km of the club and only as part of exercise, maximum 2 hours. Please stay safe and abide by all the rules.... Thanks William Brown Commodore

05.01.2022 Good luck Ingrid Vinot on your next big venture in the ACT. Looking forward to seeing you back at HSC when you can visit.

05.01.2022 The wrap from day 2 at the Finn Gold Cup.

05.01.2022 The Hampton Sailing Club banner gets its moment in the sun around the 39 second mark (top right). Thanks to all the members who volunteered during Sail Melbourne and well done to the members who participated. http://sailingresults.net/?ID=80319

05.01.2022 Worth a look to all our sailors. We don't mind if you're a little tired when you come down for this weekend's Social Sail.

04.01.2022 To Hampton Sailing Club members A few of our members are planning to organise some short races next Sunday, 13 December to ease members back onto the water for the first time this summer. The last few Sundays have been un-sailable due to strong winds and next Sunday's weather forecast is borderline at the moment. Look out for a further email on Saturday if we have to cancel the event.

03.01.2022 Our friends at East Fremantle are sending me a mini Shark sail so I can construct this training aid for our sailors. Thanks East Fremantle!

02.01.2022 Another exceptional Christmas Dinner at the HSC "Heritage" dining hall. Thanks to everyone who helped and a big one for Ollie and his "jokes"!

02.01.2022 Here's what's coming up in February

02.01.2022 Photos for the Winter Warriors are now up on the website, follow the link below to check them out. https://hamptonsailingclub.org.au//winter-warriors-24-augu

01.01.2022 A number of our members are competing in this event, check out the results to keep track of their progress over the next few days. http://sailingresults.net/

01.01.2022 If you are coming down to HSC for a casual flip around, give another of our members a shout and see if they'd like to join you. But remember the current 1.5 metre rule and the wearing of a face mask on land. Arrive at the club boat ready as the change rooms and showers are still off limits.

01.01.2022 HSC members, your Commodore of Vice accompanied by one of our able bodied and keen sailors attended the opening of Sandringham Yacht Club's 2019/20 season. A lovely day was had by all, wined and fed( if that's ya thing). Ingrid Vinot and I boarded the Kingfisher2 and motored out to watch SYC's sailors sail past and give 3 rousing cheers to their Commodore. The weather was a little better than our season opening but beggars can't be choosers. It was a little hard to restrain Ingrid as we motored back to the dock as she was jumping out of her skin to get out on the water in her Aero. That's the kind of keen and enthusiastic sailors we need at HSC. Here's hoping for a great season's sailing.
