23.01.2022 The sHout students (Stand Out Hampton) organised a Wear It Purple Day fundraiser. The Wear It Purple Foundation is an organisation that supports schools in creating safe and inclusive environments. The Year 7s also took part in a "We are the change" pledge, where students wrote messages of support, and signed their names to pledge to be part of the positive change. Approximately $200 was donated to the Wear It Purple Foundation, raised through raffle prizes and a massive bak...e sale. Thank you to Miriam Brooker from Inclusive Education WA who joined us with an information and questions table, where free resources were given out to students. All in all, our event was a fantastic success, with a lot of staff and student involvement, proving that here at Hampton we celebrate diversity and are working towards a better future for our youth! 13.01.2022 Lesson Design Blog Update Thank you to Elevate Education for supporting our students and offering insights into current research and study techniques for success. Heres what the wonderful presenters from Elevate had to say about their visit to Hampton: My goal was to facilitate at least one positive change in each students study and time management habits. The students were engaged and keen to learn, fostering a positive and educational environment. Connor I was aiming to... highlight how these techniques could be used for each student in their current study routine. The class was a super fun group and were well engaged and enthusiastic throughout the seminar! Everyone in the class had a go, worked together, and actively contributed their own ideas. Anastasia I wanted to ensure an enjoyable experience where students felt personally empowered to use and succeed with these skills. All the students listened and contributed where required. They also adjusted the skills to suit their needs, demonstrating engagement and accountability. 08.01.2022 Thank you Jarrah for doing a great job on Year 10 Work Experience recently. Representing yourself and Hampton SHS, it is always good to receive impressive feedback from the employer. Welding sound barriers and learning the importance of measuring twice and cutting only once! Getting up at 5.30 am to get to work on time is a shock to the system but the fact that you loved the work is great to hear. Well done Jarrah.

07.01.2022 Sharing something special for the Year 12s by the HSHS English department staff.......... "Another beautiful group of Year 12s has completed the year with success! With the official learning and assessments completed, their final week was all about gratitude and random acts of kindness. Students wrote gratitude letters to someone who has supported them during 2020. They also wrote letters to their future selves which were presented to them as a parting gift with a 'message in a bottle' to be opened in 2025. May they all have a wonderful future full of success and happiness. This is why we do what we do."

07.01.2022 Students are reminded that OLNA practice sessions are being held every Wednesday lunchtime in ICT leading up to OLNA testing.

03.01.2022 Shane Beros and his team at Swan Districts came into the school to deliver history and activities surrounding Marngrook Footy to some of our Year 9 and 10 students during NAIDOC week. 'Marngrook' is a word from the language of Gunditjmara people and means ‘game ball', played by Aboriginal people across South Eastern Australia. The students gained an insight into the culture and history of the first game of Australian Rules Football. They used locally sourced clay and mixed i...t with water in class to make a paste used for body painting. There were two different colours used as face paint to symbolise 2 different tribes (in our case the kangaroos, and the wanderers). The skills involved in Marngrook are jumping high, taking marks, and kicking the ball as high as possible so we needed to practice these skills. We tested our vertical jumps, had a go on the speckie/mark bag, and played a "king of the pack" like game. Overall it was a really fun session enjoyed by all students! @swandistrictsfootballclub Sports club See more

01.01.2022 Eight selected students attended the Scitech/ UWA hosted event known as Science Caf. The students were involved in a round robin speed dating type scenario: They were given food and drink around a table and a leading professional in a STEM field who they were encouraged to converse with or endure awkward silence. The students could ask any questions they had about their selected professionals journey from university life and education, to current and previous roles in th...e workforce. The professions ranged from research psychologists on selective attention (very applicable field in education!), oil and gas engineers, astrophysicists, planetary scientists and medical doctors to name a few. It was great to see our students put their social hats on, seek out and interrogate the professionals in whom they were interested. A highlight of the day was the humorous, engaging key note speaker Dr Paola Magni who spoke about her career as a forensic scientist and her journey towards that career. Ultimately a tiring but rewarding day that allowed the students to have some questions answered and awareness enhanced in regards to STEM based careers. Thank you to Janet Udinga who provided moral support, supervision and photography. Students attending: Linh, Ariella, Aura, Alyssa, Abbass, Frank, Liam and Riley. See more
