All tips, and $1 from every coffee sold will be split and donated to 'Minus 18’ and ‘Wear It Purple’ - 2 of our favourite grassroots charities that support LGBTQIA+ young people here in Australia! A day to show LGBTQIA+ young people that they have the right to be proud of who they are, and creating and maintaining supportive safe spaces for them in schools, universities, work places and public spac...es. Why do we go purple, and why is it so important? For 10yrs now schools and workplaces all over Australia have celebrated the spirit of the LGBTQIA+ youth by wearing purple - the colour symbolises ‘spirit of our community’ on the rainbow flag. And to raise awareness of the bullying still faced by the community. Wear It Purple is an organisation that aims to raise awareness about injustices against queer people, provide opportunities, create safe environments for young people and allow collaborations with other organisations to spread their mission Minus 18 is an organisation that operates through a preventative model of mental health support, they tackle isolation by creating fun-filled spaces where LGBTQIA+ young people belong and are celebrated. Being visible, making friends and feeling supported are what their events are about. We’ve stocked their delicious oat milk for some time but are very excited to be switching to their 100% Aussie almond milk! The Alternative Dairy Co uses Australian grown almonds sourced from the Murray-Darling region which helps to care for the environment through lower carbon emissions. It also supports the local economy by engaging with Aussie farmers. Lastly it tastes delicious which is the most important part! So this Wednesday between 6am and 12pm, come in and try a coffee on either their almond or oat milk for free!
