21.01.2022 Such a lovely testimonial from the Thomson family, thank you for your very kind words the environment is key to success in the water Liam has been a student of HSS since early 2019, I cant speak highly enough of the school, and Liam had come on leaps and bounds since we joined. Having done swimming lessons at another facility almost since birth, and Liam hating almost every moment of it, we thought that perhaps he just wasnt a water baby. We grew to dread every lesson a...nd decided on a change, with a friend recommending Hampton. Shortly after moving to HSS we realised that a change of approach was all he needed! The philosophy of nurturing kids during lessons, and respecting where each child is at without trying to push them to fit in with a lesson plan just worked so well for Liam. Overnight he had a boy who didnt dread swimming lessons, but looked forward to them and laughed his way through them! He had gone from strength to strength with his swimming. And more importantly hes enjoying it. We realise now that its okay if he doesnt get a skill straight away... he wont be pushed to get there and he will achieve what he needs to in his own time and with full support of your wonderful, respectful teachers. Furthermore he is more brave trying new skills because he feels secure that he wont be forced into anything in the pool that hes not comfortable with. The sign on the way in to the pool reads "respect is the first step in water safety- force is never the way". And that rings true in every lesson Liam has had. 18.01.2022 Graduation week is coming up! We always love celebrating our swimmers’ achievements in the water. During lessons with big cheers and high fives. And in a more official way during our beloved Graduation Week. Once children have progressed through our BabySteps and SwimSteps benchmarks, there will be a congratulatory graduation ceremony after each class, in front of parents and peers. All swimmers will virtually receive a graduation certificate via our Portal. Our next Graduation Week runs from November 30 - December 6. We can’t wait to celebrate these milestones with our swimmers and their families.

13.01.2022 Tumble turns.. Tumble turns.. Tumble turns Swimmers really enjoyed the tumble turn drills this week! This drill is very easy to do and has so many benefits to achieving correct tumble turns. We swim 2 rotations of 3 strokes roll to breathe, somersault, then repeat the sequence to the end of the pool! This helps with breath hold and bubble control because getting the timing of the exhale is important not only for swim technique, but also for comfort! Swimmers commonly keep their head up when preparing to tumble turn, mainly due to a lack of confidence to execute the turn without hitting their head! So with this drill carried out in the open space down the pool lane we can focus on head down, and perform a confident and correct flip. And who doesnt love doing somersaults in the pool . Its also great FUN!!

10.01.2022 Joeys mum Cheryl told us how pleased she was at Joeys lesson today! Cheryl explained Today was the best he has ever been, and had so much fun! I loved listening to Miss Shay (Joeys Teacher) and Sue (Service Manager) talk about his movement and the way Joey is now controlling his body through the water. We LOVE swimming with Hampton! Little Joey was born with limited movement on one side of his body. He required physiotherapy as he had to strengthen muscles and train his brain to move. At Hampton we specialise in whole child development, and we are so happy to be involved in Joeys developmental journey through his swim lessons. Go Joey and Cheryl!

02.01.2022 We would like to warmly farewell Mr Nathan who leaves us to work full time in his field of tertiary study, Environmental Science Nathan has been teaching with Hampton Swim School for the last 2 years, in that time has taught our SwimSteps, KindySwim, TEAM ACCELERATE and Adult Learn to Swim Programs. Nathan has also been key to training our new team members, and participated in community events locally representing Hampton as Bruce the Shark. Before working for Hampton Swim School Nathan learnt to swim himself with Hampton in the Morningside pool, making this farewell even more bitter sweet.
