18.01.2022 Dear colleagues and friends, 10 years ago the Clean Care is Safer Care programme was launched by WHO under the inspirational leadership of Sir Liam Donaldson and Professor Didier Pittet! Many thanks to them and to the team! See this page http://www.who.int/gpsc/ccsc_ten-years/en/ to commemorate this important event!... This is a short but important message. We would like to deeply thank all of you for being part of this amazing adventure and for having contributed to progressing hand hygiene and IPC improvements over 10 years in many ways! Learning from the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, we know that there is still a lot to do to really embed hand hygiene best practices in the day-to-day life of health-care facilities and communities worldwide. Building on the very successful work of Clean Care is Safer Care, WHO is now developing a comprehensive and sustained IPC global programme. We are looking forward to working with you all on this new exciting challenge! Best wishes Benedetta Allegranzi Team Lead, Clean Care is Safer Care and Infection Prevention and Control programme Service Delivery and Safety department, Health Systems and Innovation, WHO HQ Edward Kelley Director, Service Delivery and Safety department, Health Systems and Innovation, WHO HQ #CleanHands10

16.01.2022 A free online training tool ‘HHA Work Safe-and-Clean’ has been developed by Hand Hygiene Australia to help keep everyone safe when people return to work. The program takes people through the simple steps they can follow to help make their workplace or school safe from the risk of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. The program, which is based on the system used by Hand Hygiene Australia to train healthcare workers, includes specific tips for high-risk occupations and in...dustries like retail, hospitality, trades/manufacturing and office workers but also general tips for everyone to help improve hand hygiene. It only takes a few minutes to complete so we would love businesses and organisations to embrace this and encourage all of their staff to be hand hygiene ‘compliant’ when they return to work. Everyone who completes the assessment gets a certificate. Please note: In this first release the module is only available to those in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Access the online training via https://www.hha.org.au/online-learning/hha-work-safe-clean

07.01.2022 Hand hygiene and Infection Prevention and Control more generally are key weapons in the fight against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
