23.01.2022 #repost for my newer followers. Things I personally look out for when Im looking for someone to advise, instruct and provide a service. Do they genuinely care about me? ... While this doesnt have anything to do with their ability in their trade, its an important factor, especially in healthcare and fitness, in how theyre going to deliver their service - will they prioritise my needs? Will they treat me fairly? Will they be patient with me? Are they formally educated or trained? Hiring someone whos been formally trained or educated means they have industry recognised skills and knowledge required to provide the service youre looking for. Whether they deliver that with their service is another story. Beware of "cowboys". Every industry has them! Are they passionate? Whether its massage therapy, personal training, trolley collecting, retail service, fast food service etc the enthusiasm of the person will have a impact on the quality of service you receive. Even the most educated and qualified person wont be able to make you feel like you want to work with them! Thats just a few things I look for when I consider hiring someone. What do you look for in potential services?

20.01.2022 The deep squat aka Asian squat position is very common in poor countries without access to furniture. This is why the deep squat isn't lost as people become adults in those areas of the world. Look at a baby squat down to pick things up off the floor. They'll most likely perform a textbook squatting technique. They eventually lose this ability as they grow up due to the environment of the western or non-floor sitting world. 14.01.2022 #monday #mobility! Its lesson time Achieving a full range barbell back squat with good form requires adequate mobility throughout the body. Legs (ankles/knees/hips), spine and shoulders (glenohumeral joint) mobility all play a part in the movement and any mobility deficits in one of these areas will most likely result in partial squats or compensations elsewhere in the movement chain increasing risk of injury.... This client has gone from poorly executed partial squats and lack of body awareness to a solid squat and the ability to change technique mid squat due to increased body awareness. These pictures were taken during a walk at the beach In the world of social media, there's too much emphasis on training with high difficulty whether it's weight used, intensity, exercise selection etc. With all the information and opinions on social media, exercise now seems overcomplicated and confusing which can deter many people fro...m starting to exercise and drive many people to overtrain and injure themselves. Sometimes a simple exercise like good old faithful walking is just what a person needs in their exercise routine. Walking has many proven health benefits including: increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness reduced risk of heart disease and stroke improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes stronger bones and improved balance increased muscle strength and endurance reduced body fat. Walking with someone or your pets can make it an enjoyable occasion. Try walking 30 minutes a day and see how it makes you feel after 2 weeks. Make sure you warm up by walking slowly then gradually increasing your pace until you're able to talk but not sing. Cool down by stretching your hips and legs muscles.

11.01.2022 A lot of people hold a common and outdated belief that massage is or should be painful. It shouldn't be. Sure, there can be some discomfort when certain areas are massage, but the discomfort should not get to the point where it becomes "painful". ... I used to believe massage should be painful and the more pain you're in the more benefit you'll get out of it. But, like I said, that belief is outdated and I'm trying my best to educate new clients and followers so we can change the old image of massage to reflect the current information we have - it doesn't need to be painful.

11.01.2022 Our treatment room has received a little bit of a renovation and upgrade! The walls have been painted and a wardrobe has been installed to store the towels, equipment and stationery. This has created more free space so the room feels less cramped and I'm able to move around more freely when massaging and position myself better for some techniques like the glut press. A mirror is now in the room so you can how relaxed you are after your massage ... This small upgrade might not seem like much, but to Hansel and I, it's only possible due to the support from our clients so this is a way for us to say thank you to everyone who entrusts us to help them get more out of their bodies, manage their stress and mental health, manage their medical conditions and feel better in general. Thank you

The gym is a private space so my clients will be able to train with no (or very minimal) distractions which means afternoon PT sessions are on the board! If you know me youd know my avoidance of training clients in the afternoon at the gym cause its always too busy to be able to deliver the high quality experience I believe theyre paying for. 06.01.2022 One of my favourite things about massage is giving a pregnancy massage. Being entrusted by a pregnant mother to be, to help her tired and weary mind and body is a great honour treating the mother directly aides the baby as well so its like Ive treated two clients! After the first trimester, pregnancy massage is switched to the side laying position. Here at @handinhandhealth we use 4 towels and 3 pillows to maximise the comfort level of our clients. 02.01.2022 #tuesday #training #tips! WARM UP TO PREVENT INJURY!! Even something low intensity and low impact like stretching has risks attached to it. Sure, you can stretch without warming up, but you also increase your risk of injury by doing so. Even a 5 minute warm up will be a great benefit to your stretching session!

Ive got something for that which isnt creepy Seriously though, he was experiencing sharp pain trying to get into a deep squat earlier in the session. Immediately after this he was able to get into a deep squat with zero pain.... My clients dont come to me just to be exercised and pushed. I have a knowledge of human biomechanics and pain which helps me teach my clients what theyre feeling, how to overcome it and how to reprogram their movement to get better quality and move pain free.
