15.01.2022 The RBA has decided to hold the cash rate during their scheduled monthly meeting. Just 19 days ago the RBA announced a .25% emergency cut in response to the economic threat posed by the COVID-19 crisis, reducing the rate to its lowest ever level. In response many lenders reduced fixed rates however, most did not adjust their variable rates.

15.01.2022 Latest update for First Home Buyers The Government has announced three key refinements to the HomeBuilder scheme - allowing the necessary time for home buyers to arrange their finance approvals, building approvals and meet other legal requirements before work is required to commence, rather than the fixed three month timeframe initially announced;... clarification that a sales contract for a home purchased off the plan will be eligible in the same way as a building contract, and aligning the process with the current timing of payments for first home owner grants for new homes. Now just have to wait and see how the banks will handle all of this...

08.01.2022 The RBA has reduced the Cash rate by another 0.25% today. This is an emergency rate cut as rate decisions are made on the first Tuesday of each month. This decision is due to the Coronavirus causing job losses and other negative impacts to households and the economy.
