25.01.2022 You may have heard of Blocking crocheted or knitted items but don't understand what it means. It's the extra step I take to better define the shape and stitches on many garments. It involves wetting the garment and then stretching and pinning into the desired shape. Fancy edgings can benefit from this. I use steam to "set" the stitches for best results. In the second image, I haven't blocked and I wanted to define the edging a little more. Not all yarns are springy and many e...co friendly yarns have less stretch so caring for your garment can help maintain the details. When I suggest to "dry flat" after a gentle wash, this can be as simple as laying across a clothes airer and pulling into shape. If your fancy edges are looking a little tired, you can redefine them by pinning into shape on a piece of foam or spare bed, etc and leaving to dry. With a little care your garment can last well for years. Loving this new style. I worked with Starlily Creations SoulShine pattern. In the earth toned top I have followed the shape but used my own choice of stitches. They seem happy there but those tags are a sinister reminder that the day will come that they will be in fear It makes me sad. 07.01.2022 Success! Granny squares in the making. Some laughs and cake and lots of pats for Duster and Muffy amid deep concentration today, and the odd bit of teeth clenching, but granny squares were taken home at end of day to continue to work on. Looking forward to seeing photos of progress. Another group on Thursday at @Vegan Bliss, when we will play with hooks and chains, moving on to other stitches the following week. Love seeing people picking up hooks.

The reward was a delicious @harissahobart made chocolate beetroot cake and I also treated myself to some Booja Booja ice cream which I dove into as soon as I got home Keep up the practice and class next week will seem much easier
