20.01.2022 During these difficult times the staff at Hands on Hand Therapy staff (Kiama, Nowra, Bowral and Figtree clinics) remain committed to supporting the hand injury needs of the community. Rebatable Telehealth options are available where appropriate otherwise face to face services remain vital to many and continue to be provided. Please be assured that Hands on Hand therapy is committed to providing a safe treatment environment with therapy provided behind Perspex screens, excellent hand hygiene (as usual) and all contact surfaces disinfected between consults. If you are unwell please contact us to have your appointment rescheduled or to have a telehealth consultation scheduled in lieu of face to face. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact reception on 42332641. Stay safe and well everyone!

14.01.2022 Kids use their hands to learn and play. Imagine a busy classroom with kids making, crafting, doing and chatting. A child who can’t participate can quickly be i...solated and fall behind. Hands are also such an integral part of ourselves and our body image. When they are injured we feel it deeply. Beginning her career in a major burns unit, Physio Fiona gained an insight into how vital and precious our hands are, which led her to specialising in paediatric hand therapy . More than 60 children may be seen each week at SCH for hand therapy. Sports injuries affecting fingers are extremely common for dislocations and fractures, plus tendon injuries and nerve lacerations which are usually traumatic injuries from broken glass. Kids are desperate to return to activities especially their sports after a hand injury, so getting them to slow down and take time to heal is an important message this Hand Therapy Awareness Week. If a hand injury is rested and heals well, it may prevent problems later in life, and this is so important. Some Hand Therapy Awareness Week trivia: What sport provides Fiona and the team with the most broken fingers? Not cricket, hockey, rugby or soccer it’s oztag ! #handtherpayawarenessweek2019

09.01.2022 Feeling very lucky to have attended the international hand therapy and hand surgery conference in Berlin. So much expertise and information sharing between international colleagues!
