10.01.2022 My name is Ben and I am the man behind the Caltowie Chilled Out and Fired Up Music Festival. Today I am going to share my story and the reasons why I created th...is event. I would also like to share the tools I have used to overcome my battle. If you’re struggling, I hope this can help you conquer your troubles and get you back to living life to its fullest. Please be aware, my story also comes with a trigger warning. Growing up, I didn’t think about mental health and didn’t really think it was an issue. But as a kid who does? I wasn’t even aware of an issue in my 20’s. It wasn’t until I was in trouble that I became aware of how many people are struggling with anxiety and depression, keeping it to themselves, too scared to let it out and talk. Life throws shit our way every single day, but it is the way we respond that determines the outcome. For me, after some bad business decisions and other factors out of my control happened, I started spiraling out of control. I was drinking every night to numb my brain so I could sleep. I was an angry son of a bitch with a short temper. I was living with a why me attitude and a victim mentality. This can be a very dangerous place for some, it felt dangerous to me. Having a huge support group around me was great, but they didn’t know the struggle going on in my head. Everything came to head when we lost our third child halfway through the pregnancy. On top of nearly losing our house, workshop and livelihood to the bank, this fell into our lap. This was my lowest point. This was when I came across Tonibody, right when I needed help, Toni Versic scrolled into my Facebook feed. I was broke but needed to invest in MYSELF if I was going to be able to provide for my family. So, I jumped on a call and joined. Through this, I discovered tools to deal with my issues and lay them on the table. I learned to be open, vulnerable, emotional, and to focus on a positive mindset. Fast forward 2.5 years, I’m 20kg lighter, my business is booming, my relationship with my wife and kids are great, and I can now share these lessons with other people. After losing a couple of mates to suicide last year I decided it was time to use my newfound positive mindset to start making a difference. So, I pulled my resources together and decided to create a music festival that aims to raise money and awareness around men’s mental health. Which brings me to the point of my post. Toni Versic and The Empowered Man are putting on a FREE, men’s empowerment seminar on the 1st February in Adelaide. I personally invite all of you men out there to click the link below and register for a life-changing event, this seminar lead into the program that changed my path in life. To help, Caltowie Chilled Out and Fired Up Music Festival will be running a FREE bus to Adelaide and back. If you are interested, please also send us a message to express your interest. Remember, you have nothing to lose, only everything to gain. You’re the only one who can change your life. Please share the heck out of this and don’t forget to pre-register your ticket here: https://www.theempoweredman.com.au/pain-into-power-adelaide
