21.01.2022 In the recent family law case of Chancellor & McCoy (2016), the Full Court upheld a decision not to make a property order following the separation of a de facto... couple who had been living together for 27 years, on the basis that there was no evidence that would point to any express or implied assumption that the parties would ultimately share in the others property. The case suggests that a long de facto relationship does not automatically entitle a party to a property order at the end of a relationship. For more information on your rights following separation, please visit our website and contact our office for an obligation free discussion today. See more

02.01.2022 Did you know that you can pass an interest in property to your partner for use during their lifetime only, by way of a life estate or a right of residency? This can be useful in blended families or where your ultimate intended beneficiary is not your partner. We invite you to contact our office for more information on Wills and Estates. You can find some information about making a simple Will in this Law Society factsheet https://www.lawsociety.com.au///internetcontent/819631.pdf
