22.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that Hanna Legal has today been named a First Tier Criminal Defence Law Firm in Sydney in the prestigious 2020 Doyle’s Guide, for the fifth consecutive year. Hanna Legal is one of only two law firms to have ever achieved this in NSW. In addition, our principal Nick Hanna has been ranked in the top category of criminal defence lawyers in Sydney, also for fifth consecutive year. We sincerely thank the Hanna Legal family, past and present, and everyone who has supported us over the years. We also congratulate the other excellent lawyers who have performed well this year.

22.01.2022 An outstanding outcome at the Wollongong Local Court today. Abbas Soukie of Hanna Legal today appeared on behalf of our client, who was charged with the manufacture and supply of a large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs. Despite police opposition to bail, and despite the fact that our client was already on bail for an offence of wound with intent to murder, the client was ultimately granted strict conditional bail. Special mention to James Trevallion, barrister.

19.01.2022 Another massive win in the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal. The Hanna Legal team, led by Abbas Soukie, ensured a substantial reduction in their client’s sentence in what the Court described as a complex matter. Special thanks to Arjun Chhabra, barrister.

19.01.2022 An outstanding outcome in the Supreme Court of Queensland today. After pleading guilty to the trafficking/supply of in excess of 30,000 methylenedioxyamphetamine tablets (in excess of 10 kilograms), an offence punishable by 25 years' imprisonment, our client was sentenced to a non-parole period of 2 years' imprisonment, bringing to end years of complex litigation and negotiations. Special mention to Arjun Chhabra, barrister, and Abbas Soukie, solicitor.

16.01.2022 An exceptional outcome in District Court of New South Wales last week, where our client avoided prison after pleading guilty to a number of charges relating to proceeds of crime. Special mention to Arjun Chhabra, Barrister, and Abbas Soukie, Solicitor.

13.01.2022 An incredible result at the Wollongong District Court today. After deliberating for only 6 minutes, a jury of 12 delivered verdicts of NOT GUILTY to all charges which our client faced. Special mention to David Dalton SC and Abbas Soukie.

09.01.2022 Abbas Soukie of Hanna Legal featured in The Daily Telegraph yesterday, 8 October 2020. Below is an extract from the article: "Ibrahim’s lawyer Abbas Soukie said the reasons for his client’s continuing incarceration at Long Bay has not been disclosed to Mr Ibrahim or his legal representatives.... The idea that the Commissioner of Corrective Services NSW has the authority to approve an inmate that is facing deportation to remain in custody of Corrective Services is deeply concerning, and has the direct effect of undermining the parole order, Mr Soukie told The Telegraph. Ironically, since being granted parole, Mr Ibrahim has been transferred to the segregation wing of the prison at which he is presently housed the process is fraught with a lack of transparency.

09.01.2022 Abbas Soukie of Hanna Legal featured in the Daily Telegraph, following an appearance before the Wollongong Local Court on 1 October 2020. Below is an extract from the article: "Outside court, Bubanja’s lawyer Abbas Soukie said his client would be defending the allegations vigorously.... Mr Bubanja unequivocally rejects the allegations giving rise to these charges, he said. The allegations are baseless, lack any evidentiary foundation and will be defended vigorously.

08.01.2022 A great result at the Wollongong Local Court yesterday. Abbas Soukie of Hanna Legal and Arjun Chhabra of Counsel featured in The Illawarra Mercury, following an appearance at the Wollongong Local Court yesterday, 6 October 2020. Below is an extract from the article:... "Outside court, Ellul's solicitor, Abbas Soukie, said his client was pleased with the sentence. "Ultimately, the court accepted that Mr Ellul was remorseful for his conduct and found that as a consequence of the positive steps which he had taken towards rehabilitation, the sentence of imprisonment is better served by way of an intensive corrections order," he said".

06.01.2022 An outstanding outcome in the New South Wales State Parole Authority today. In July 2020, our client's parole was refused. Thereafter, our client sought a review of that decision. Following submissions by Mr Abbas Soukie, the State Parole Authority saw fit to release our client to parole, finding that our client's conduct in prison had markedly improved, he had suitable post-release plans, and did not pose an unacceptable risk to the safety of the community.

02.01.2022 A remarkable result at the Central Local Court today, where our client was granted strict conditional bail. Special mention to Abbas Soukie, Solicitor, and Craig Smith SC, Barrister.
