25.01.2022 Have you heard about about the Blade? The all new BLADE tent is a revolutionary aerodynamic aluminium hard-shell rooftop tent. That was engineered and manufactured at the Eezi Awn. Who is Eezi Awn a manufacturer of roof top tents, awnings and roof racks with over 36 years experience.... Their knowledge and understanding of roof top tents has taken this to the next level. Its a hard-shell roof top tent offering more functionality and unique aerodynamic design that makes the Blade a very special tent. Gas struts open up the tent in seconds. Just open the two stainless steel locks give it a push and get in And like all Eezi Awn products they are made to last. One of the things that makes it special is the rack kit that can be purchased with it. This useful addition makes it very easy to mount Solar panels, bikes, kayaks or any other kit up to 50 kgs. If your in Brisbane can and see us at our new location at Unit 6, 42 Smith Street Capalaba. Please ring for appointment. For more information please call 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]
25.01.2022 The Blade hard shell tent now has an option to install bars onto the lid. Max load is 50kgs. It would be the ideal place to install a solar panel, kayak, or other gear on to the roof of the tent.... For more information ph: 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]
25.01.2022 A very special tribute to our mate, Andrew. You may have crossed paths with Andrew in South Australia at some point. He was a great supporter of Hannibal products and had many wonderful trips away with his partner, Marie. Thank you for the memories. This shout-out is for you, Andrew.
25.01.2022 The Australian made Hannibal Safari roof top tent. How its made...... Part 2. The baseboards. Everything attaches from this point. We install a special aluminium extrusion that hold the two boards rigid when the tent is rigged. (we dont want our customers getting pinched when they move around the tent) A 3mm stainless steel hinge connects the two baseboards and links the baseboard to the frame and offers strength to the complete tent....Continue reading
24.01.2022 So youre dragging the tent out and getting ready for this years trip to one of our Iconic Outback locations. Excellent, have you checked the tent? Have you got all of your bits to make the tent work? Like the Spreader bar, HAPP (anti-pooling pole), pegs and spring steels?... What about the canvas. If you have used your tent a lot over the years it might be a good idea to hit it with WCT reproofing solution. This will rejuvenate the canvas and back up the waterproofing qualities of the tent. We have WCT (Wax Converter Textiles) reproofing solution on the shelf in the water based solution as well as the Solvent based product. I prefer the solvent based. I have been told that it is the same solution they use in the tanks when they dip and proof the canvas at Wax Con in the Hunter Valley. its an easy process and worth it if your tent has done a lot of work. 1. Wipe over the tent with a damp cloth. 2. if you are using the solvent based solution open the container and place it in a bucket of hot water. You will note that the wax block in the container with become quite viscous and clear as it heats up. 3. At this point you can brush it on to the canvas of your tent. 4. You will notice that it will leave a white wax coating over the canvas. if you leave the tent in the sun a lot of this will melt into the canvas. Or you can speed it up by using a hair dryer on hot or paint stripper blower. 5. Rub a stick of bees wax or seam sealer over the seams to prevent any ingress through the seams and there you go ready for another adventure. If you require clarification on any point please come back to me. call 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]
24.01.2022 Tony from Penrith sent through a couple of photos of his new 90 Defender roof rack. This 90 Defender looks very flash.
24.01.2022 Hannibal Safari Tent owners we NEED you! Thats right we need you to help us talk to people about our tents. As the traditional supply chain and distribution methods change we need a way to show the tent in the other states, cities, towns and regional areas. ... This could be a nice rewarding side line for you. Contact me to register your name or interest. Australian owners only. Phone: 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]
23.01.2022 Yep, this is what I love seeing. A guy gets on the phone buys a 2.4m awning. Gets it delivered and fits it to his truck. He picks a fantastic day and heads down to Binningup Beach just north of Bunbury WA and starts getting use out of it.... Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie! 23.01.2022 The Australian Build Hannibal Safari roof rack for Defender is being made in Brisbane. This ally roof rack is the strongest roof rack in its class. With more slimline roof racks coming through in various brands its comforting to know that a strong rack is still available. The rack is being made with radius rear corners or 90 degree rear corners. The square corner could be a good option for someone with a 270 awning. which are proving to be more popular.... The planks on the roof rack run North/South to prevent wind noise. The plank floor is easy to walk on and due to the coverage not harsh on gear like rack bags. Each plank runs an 8mm bolt guide full length which makes it easy to bolt things down. There are a couple of important accessories available. However, accessories for other companies can easily be retro fitted to the rack floor. The Australian build roof racks will soon have the tricky cast legs as well. like all traditional Hannibal roof racks. All traditional model Defenders are catered for. 90, 110 and 130. For more information contact: [email protected] or call 1300 369 270.

22.01.2022 So you need to do a repair on the vinyl cover of your tent. There are a number of glues available to bond vinyl together. In saying that I have been surprised by just how many commercially available glues didnt do the job and pulled apart after a period of time. This weeks tip for you is what I have found to be the best solution for a glue that will stick almost as well as a high frequency weld.... The stuff to use is the primer and glue used to bond PVC pipes together. This really works. The process is as follows: 1. Find a suitable material to use as a patch. 2. Cut to size and round off the corners. 3. I always recommend that you should patch from the inside. If you do this you may find that the tear may not be seen when your finished. 4. Use the Primer on the cover where you are going to patch and on the patch as well. This will remove any contaminant and provide a surface for the glue to bond to. 5. Leave for couple of minutes. 6. Apply the glue and let it sit for a couple of minutes. 7. Apply the patch to the damaged vinyl. 8. Clamp or place a weight over the repair patch and leave for couple of hours. 9. After a few hours the glue will have bonded. However, it will need a 24 hour period before it will be at maximum strength. (thanks Grant) I trust you will find this useful. if you require clarification Ph: 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]

20.01.2022 You WANT WHAT for your Roof Top Tent!!! Sheets to go on the mattress???? I don't stock sheets for the RTT and they are a problem because they are longer than most beds. I learnt my lesson many years ago when I brought some in through Hannibal SA and they were the roughest, itchiest cotton sheet you could get.... The good news is that there is a lovely lady in Adelaide who makes sheets to suit whatever size and material you want. Her name is Michelle and she can be found at SUNCRAFT SHADES Phone: 0438 010220 for a quote. The website: http://www.suncraftshades.com/ Sheets can be made with a fitted top sheet, if you wish, which zips onto the bottom fitted sheet(only across the bottom). Also good for those restless sleepers. No more untucked sheets. Check her out...
19.01.2022 Here's one from the Vault Back in 2011 in issue 175 of 4WD Monthly Magazine David Luke offers a 6 month report on the Hannibal Safari tent and his experience with his partner while traveling the West Coast of Tassie. He talks about an extreme weather event when camped at Granville Harbour. Driving rain and gusting winds did their best to break the tent down but failed to even ingress one drop of rain.... He goes on to talk about Sawback Range Track and pushing through the undergrowth and his concerns about possible damage to the cover. When you read the story you will see that the Hannibal ticked all the boxes. * Weather proof......Yep. * Dry? Yep, even in the most extreme weather events. * Comfortable? When you use the best materials you have to be comfortable. * Strong? Yep, and can handle the worst conditions in so many ways. The crazy thing is that this very tent which is now Australian made and continuing to use the best materials available can now be purchased almost 10 years later for just a couple of 100 dollars more than 2011 with a 5 year warranty. Not forgetting that we have a bunch of options that make roof top tent use so much fun and easy. For more information contact us on Ph: 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]
19.01.2022 The Australian Made Hannibal Safari canvas fold out roof top tent is available in 5 different sizes and each size have 4 options. The tent is the same in each model. what changes is the flysheet and wall systems that can be used on the tent. Option 1. The Classic roof top tent. This is the model where it began. A simple straight forward fold out tent. The ladder is exposed and the flysheet over the top covers the tent and thats all. ... Option 2. The Classic with Jumbo flysheet. The Jumbo flysheet extends out over the ladder to ensure an all weather entry into the tent and the extra little piece that comes down increases the privacy level inside the tent. Option 3. The Jumbo tent. Take any of the tents with a Jumbo flysheet and add a basic set of walls. The walls cover 3 sides so they are ideal for a wagon application. The walls will enure privacy under the tent, offer protection against the weather and can be opened out to be used as an awning or wind break. If you want a floor use CGear Multimat. thats the mat where sand and dirt falls through the weave and the sand or dirt will not come up through the weave. Check out Partner Remote Travel products: https://www.remotetravel.com.au/cgear-camping-mat-1.8-x-2.4 This package is my preferred option. Option 4. The Hannibal Tourer annexe is a 4 wall and floor annexe under the jumbo flysheet tent. The vinyl floor is removable (just in case you want to put CGear down) walls can be made to open out like the Jumbo if required. There is a large panel which would fold down against the vehicle for access. Check out the photos and if you require clarifcation please contact us on [email protected] or call 1300 369 270. File photos are used for this post.
19.01.2022 Attention Hannibal tent owners. If your tent was made before 2014 there is a good chance that it has been made with a standard hinges set. What does that mean. Well, it means that you dont have as much space in your tent to pack down in as current product. But dont despair.....you can retro fit the taller hinges to make more space.... I expect that your reading this and going "what is he talking about". Back in 2014 we made a rolling change to the build of our tents and made our hinge bracket that retains the upright bows taller. This opened up the distance between the mattress and the baseboard and created a bigger space. Beauty people said. they could now leave more bedding and other gear in the tent. The best part was that we didnt change to height of the closed tent by only a few centimetres. It makes life so much easier. It would be advised that you assess the Transit cover before you modify. The taller stainless steel edge rounded brackets cost $90.00 for a set of 4 plus postage. For more information call 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]

14.01.2022 The Australian made Hannibal Safari roof top tent.....How its made. Part 5. The tent is now complete and almost ready for fitment to a vehicle or trailer and then off to travel the vastness of this country or even start doing Overland trips and travel the world. But before it goes we will instal the options that may have been ordered with the tent. Some of these options are installed when the tent is being made.... Lighting would be the most popular item. The wiring for the internal light in the tent is run through the internal frame. Its neat and tidy. The LED light we fit under the baseboard near the ladder is brilliant. Its a slimline LED which illuminates the area under the tent perfectly. Another item thats getting popular is our power supply. If required we can run a heavier gauge wire so that you can run a 12 volt electric blanket or Cpap machine. But the main reason for power in the tent is to charge phones and iPads. From time to time we have been asked to fit a grab handle near the doorway just for that little bit of stability as you go in and out of the tent. One thing I missed earlier is our mattress option. I did mention that the foam we use is a Dunlop Foam. I find the standard foam to be excellent. However, if you prefer something a little firmer we do have a dual layer mattress. Its 50mm high density and 25mm of memory foam. Other options can be discussed as we work with a major foam supplier. The photos in this post show some of these options and a couple of images of the travel both domestically and internationally. Emiel is the handsome guy on the 60 Series Landcruiser. He used to work with us. He with his then wife travel from Brisbane to Perth then loaded his vehicle into a container and had it shipped to Holland and over 12 months drove back to Brisbane through so many countries. Ill post some of his photos in the next week or so. If you require more information please contact me on 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]

11.01.2022 Hannibal Safari Equipment / Remote Travel Products Australia is open for business. The Jungle Drums have been beating and we have been made aware through various international sources that Hannibal Safari Equipment in Cape Town South Africa has shut the door and ceased operation. So that there is no confusion to our customers and people following us on Facebook, Instagram etc I just wanted to make people aware that we are still operating and have no intention of closing down.... I started dealing with Hannibal as the Australian agent back in 2005 and had a number of years of good business with them. Unfortunately over time there were issues that related to the timely supply of product which pushed my business in the direction of making product here in Australia. The tents and awnings were first followed by the roof racks and other accessories. We have also over the last few years developed a range of useful options and accessories to compliment our roof top tent product. The fact is that as I used these premium products myself I realised that I would not be the only one to want product of a high quality that lasts so our goal was to go beyond just selling a product. 10.01.2022 The Australian made Hannibal Safari roof top tent.....How it's made. Part 3. Our Hannibal Safari roof top tents use canvas from WCT (Wax Converter Textiles). WCT are located in Rutherford in the Hunter Valley just outside of Newcastle. They are known for their canvas and oil skin fabrics for the camping industry, industrial fabrics as well as fabrics for defence which are second to no other and exported to over 15 countries. ... It's a fact that you could say with confidence that WCT canvas is about longevity, performance and it can survive whatever the elements can dish out. As stated in the last post our canvas is now sewn in Australia. Walls for annexes are made to the correct length and special options for doors and windows can be supplied when required. Here's a video from WCT on the process of the canvas being made at the Rutherford factory in the Hunter Valley. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IcRGwN7rcQ&t=4s For more information contact [email protected] or phone 1300 369 270.

08.01.2022 The Australian made Hannibal Safari roof top tent.....How it's made. I'll post some of his photos in the next week or so. If you require more information please contact me on 1300 369 270 or email [email protected]

08.01.2022 Lee Schulze from Tassie sent this review in a couple of weeks ago. We first bought our Hannibal rooftop tent more than 10 years ago. We have had no problems with it and although we havent had much use for it it during the last few years, that is about to change again. We decided before we embarked on our next road trip that maybe we should tidy it up a bit and get a new transit cover. Out with the old (picture 1) and in with the new (picture 2). ... Peter couldnt have been more helpful and once we put our order in, everything was ready within about a week (the postage from Qld to Tas took less than 48 hours - kudos to Australia Post too!). We were a bit dubious about fitting the cover ourselves, but Peter assured us it wouldnt be too difficult, and he would be available by phone if we needed him. Well, we have just finished putting the new cover on, and although there was a bit of huffing and puffing - mainly from me when we had to lift the tent up onto the Cruiser, it all went really well. Great product and awesome customer service. Thanks Peter Thanks Lee, great review and we always try to do our best. Happy and safe travel on your trip. If you have a Hannibal Story send it through to a Google / Facebook review. Apparently thats what we need to see these days.

08.01.2022 So your looking for a new 4WD and don't know what to get? You know you don't want a large vehicle and your mindful of the economy that 4WD's have. So a small one is what will suit you. You would like something quirky. but all the small 4WD's are boring.... Maybe something that has some heritage and iconic status would be nice. So what is a small economical vehicle that ticks all the boxes??? The answer: a Defender? (well sort of) Lets try a Defender body kit fitted to a Suzuki Jimny Now that's different If your interested give me a call and i'll chase down information for you. 07.01.2022 The Australian made Hannibal Safari roof top tent.....How it's made. Part 4. Once the canvas is attached to the baseboard, the boys install the bungee cords inside the tent. These bungee cords pull the walls in as the tent closes down so you don't need to tuck them in. Ally angle is used as trim around the baseboard and these are screwed into position and ferrules are fitted into the baseboard. The ferrule tubes locate the spring steels that support the flysheet and window ho...ods. The PVC cover is then installed. The transit cover is made with Australian made vinyl and it is a cover that is high frequency welded and sewn to prevent water and dust ingress. A Bondex zip is sewn into the cover and runs around 3 sides of the tent. By the way if you want a fully removable cover all you need to do is ask for it when you order. Although I will say in most cases you will have a much cleaner experience when opening and closing the tent if it is attached. The next step has the mounting extrusion can be installed on the baseboard of the tent in a east/west or north/south orientation. This will be determined by the end users installation requirement. The mounting extrusion has a bolt guide that runs full length of the plank. The bolt guide will hold the head of an 8mm bolt captive. It is a strong method of attachment to roof racks or roof bars. The top section of the ladder is attached. An additional ridge pole is located above the apex point of the tent. The flysheet is supported off the tent with this pole. This is very important as it ensures an air gap between the tent and the flysheet. This air gap insulates the tent body on a hot day or on a cold night. it also assist in the management of condensation. The Ball joint mounting hardware for the spreader bar is left until the day of installation of the tent. One unique feature of the Hannibal tent is our reverse opening door. This is the doorway opposite the ladder end. This great feature ensures excellent ventilation on those hot nights when its raining. There is no need to remove flysheets just zip the door to the required level and enjoy. The reverse door offers more privacy as well to occupants inside the tent. One of the last items inside the tent that is installed is the Dunlop Ultra Fresh foam. Which is covered by the very unique cover. A Hannibal cover is a single piece cover with two compartments. The mattress will spend most of its life folded and the Hannibal is set up so it will do this without allowing distortion to the foam. Stay tune for the next installment.... If you would like more information please email [email protected] or call 1300 369 270.

05.01.2022 Are you looking for a wall option to work with your Hannibal roof top tent? Do you want to escape the weather or need privacy? We have two types of wall system to fit to the Hannibal tent.... They are called the Jumbo or the Tourer. Today I will showcase the Jumbo walls. The Jumbo is 3 wall system that has no floor the vehicle becomes the fourth wall. I must admit that I like using the Jumbo walls. They are quick and easy to rig. Just slide the rope at the top of the walls in to the sail track and then hook the walls up to the eyelets around the outer edge. The walls can be opened out to be used as shade if required or drop a wall out and use the other two as a wind break or privacy screen. Most wall kits today are made of 280 GSM canvas. The walls are also made to the height required on the vehicle. i do have some odd sizes of nylon walls in stock for 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and1.8m wide tents. give me a call or email if you have any interest. 02.01.2022 After consultation with a couple of our good customers we have made a change to our flysheet. The sheet now extends past the baseboard to repel rainwater away from the doorway of the tent. This new design will be used on all tents, models and sizes from this point on.... What do you think? For more information email [email protected] or phone 1300 369 270.
