25.01.2022 Earlier in the week we promised to share our feature in Haggle Co's very first episode of SA Style Story. These vids champion SA small businesses so we were really excited to take part. Check it out to watch Tim talk all things gin and make our signature Happenstance G&T and coffee by the fire cocktail. 24.01.2022 Put your dancing shoes on everyone, 2021 is here! We bottled our first Fiesta Gin recently - and it felt pretty good to enjoy a new beginning. As the label suggests this bright and lively drink will bring music to your mouth and put a tingle on your tongue! A new year brings new goals, hope, dreams and energy and we are here for it! 23.01.2022 It’s been awhile since we’ve had the pleasure of doing a tasting so it was extra special to run one with competition winner Maddy and her five friends at The Joiners on Saturday night. Our happy guests enjoyed the full range of Happenstance Distillery gins and were introduced to some delicious pairings to really make every sip sing on the palate! Thank you to The Joiners for having us and to Maddy and co for making it such a fun night!

23.01.2022 We are definitely missing offering tastings of all our beautiful gins at the moment but the good news is The Joiners are still offering Happenstance paddles so you can have your own little private tasting party! Fireside, Fiesta and the original Happenstance Gin are on display with some great pairings so you can delight the senses and enjoy all the decadent deliciousness our gins provide! Try saying that tongue twister three times fast!

22.01.2022 What a nice surprise to wake up and find Happenstance Distillery has won not one but three awards in the Australian Gin Awards run by the Australian Gin distillers Assoc' Inc.! In the Modern Gin Category our Fiesta and Happenstance Gin took out a gold prize, while our much loved Fireside was awarded a silver medal. Thank you to the judges at the Association for recognising our modern, delicious gins!

20.01.2022 A big thank you to all those who entered our joint Easter giveaway with local business Blue Water Plumbers! The team were happy to see so many enthusiastic entries! We are happy to announce three lucky winners have won a bottle of gin alongside some delicious chocolate from Haighs - another great South Australian company! 20.01.2022 We’ve been busy over the weekend bottling our delicious Happenstance Sour Cherry Liqueur and we are pleased to announce our much anticipated 2020 batch is now available for purchase! For six months these plump beauties have been swimming in a mix of spices, as per the Portuguese family recipe, and have now imparted the perfect amount of flavour. These rare bottles won't hit retail shelves but you can order through our website.... It's been a strange old year and we hope you're all doing OK. 18.01.2022 Our Adelaide spring has been unusually chilly this year but it’s great to see some of you using it as an excuse to enjoy some hot buttered Fireside gin! One gin lover thought a rainy weekend was the perfect time to make their own version using milk, cinnamon and dried orange for a garnish. Definitely a scrumptious match for the Fireside botanicals hazelnut, cardamom, clove and ginger! Yum! Sounds like a fantastic way to enjoy a warm cuddle from the inside out!... 15.01.2022 At Happenstance Distillery we don’t mind a bit of glitter and sparkle and the label of our delicious Fiesta Gin is no different. Holographic glitter foil and ALL, this design is a little bit ‘extra’ just the way we like it! And for those playing along at home, we have our friends at Studio Elevenses to thank for all our beautifully designed labels.

15.01.2022 The dream of making our Sour Cherry liqueur goes back to the very first conversation we had about starting the distillery, so it was an absolute thrill to release our second batch into the world last week! After selling out in just one week in 2019 we more than doubled output this year. 255 bottles were put up for grabs and already over 150 bottles have sold. 14.01.2022 Did you know we macerate some of our botanicals for twelve hours before distilling? This helps to extract all the wonderful oils and flavours from our carefully selected ingredients. In this vid, after adding juniper and coriander seed to the still, Mei Lin adds angelica root into the mix to begin the process of distilling our signature Happenstance Gin. As angelica root is a fixative, meaning it gives the aromas of the gin a longer shelf life, it’s also a key ingredient in all three of our gins. What a clever little botanical it is!

14.01.2022 This little gadget bobbing along in the gin is an alcohol hydrometer. It sits in the condenser and lets us monitor the ABV (alcohol by volume) in each batch. As the distillation progresses the ABV drops and all the other beautiful flavours begin to develop. Think hazelnut and orange, chilli and lime or maybe even some delicious strawberry gum depending on the Happenstance bottle you choose! This video is just a snippet of what goes on at the Happenstance office - but it’s all part of the fun!

13.01.2022 F is for Friday, fun and Fireside Floradora! If you’re looking for some Friday night drink inspiration our Fireside Floradora might be just the thing. In this special cocktail, our spiced Fireside Gin gets an extra kick of warmth with the pairing of ginger and a delicious splash of lime and raspberry. To get started add: - Ice to a tall glass - 45ml Fireside Gin... - 10ml Fresh Lime Juice - 20ml Monin Raspberry Syrup (or a good quality raspberry cordial) - 60ml Kirk’s Ginger Beer Garnish with optional raspberry and orange segment and let the Friday fun begin! Enjoy!

12.01.2022 Cinnamon, cloves and cherries oh my! These juicy cherries have done an amazing job imparting flavour into our 2020 Sour Cherry Liqueur. The question is what would you do with them now? Eat them (they are pretty boozy!), put them over ice cream (probably better than on your cereal before work!), make an awesome Christmas in July (make that August) cake. or something else? 11.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago we announced we were offering FREE POSTAGE to our Victorian friends in lockdown and we got a wonderful response! Not only did Vic residents start to make orders but so did friends and family that wanted to send some cheer to their loved ones across the border. This meant a busy week of labelling and packing for the Happenstance Team. and Fireside, Cherries, Fiesta and Happenstance were all on the menu! We hope everyone that made an order are now enjoying their delicious goods!

09.01.2022 WHAT’S IN A NAME? Romeo may have different ideas. but to us the Happenstance name means quite a lot! Happenstance is an event that occurs by accident but brings - at least for the Happenstance team - a stroke of luck! It was by chance that Mei Lin and Tim found themselves as the same dinner party and started to chat about their passion for gin. As they started planning and setting up their business they were also greeted with many happy coincidences that helped along the wa...y. For them all these events made them feel like their business idea was meant to be. and so the Happenstance name was chosen and their business was born! What do you think? Was it a happy happenstance that Tim and Mei Lin met?

09.01.2022 Everyone loves a classic gin and tonic, especially the team at Happenstance... but we love trying new flavour combinations too. Variety is the spice of life after all! Speaking of spice, have you tried our Fiesta Gin? It has just a little kick of chilli to get the party started and it really comes alive when mixed with rich, red cranberry juice. A mint garnish is an optional (but fabulous) finishing touch. Warming and tingly yet light, bright, and refreshing, this is truly a drink for all seasons...... which means it’s always the right time to give it a try!

07.01.2022 FUN FACT Did you know Mei Lin spent a year in regional NSW learning how to make fine furniture? After graduation she worked for herself for awhile - and although she felt fulfilled, she was also very poor! While she no longer makes and sells furniture, Mei Lin has put these skills to work at the Happenstance distillery by building all the cabinets and the tasting bench pictured here.... Turns out Mei Lin is a pretty creative and talented soul. but I guess you already knew that! Do you have any hidden talents?

06.01.2022 One thing special about this time of year is the abundance of delicious strawberries! Living in Adelaide means we are also very blessed to live close to a number of strawberry farms. Strawberries make a fantastic cocktail garnish and what a better way to celebrate this beautiful fruit than with a pairing of our signature Happenstance Gin! This annual celebration is a day for distillers, bars and retailers to come together and celebrate the gin industry and all the wonderful people in it. 04.01.2022 Our Fireside Sour is our go to cocktail when we want to present something a little bit eye catching and special to our guests. It’s a little bit zesty and a little bit spunky - and surprisingly easy to put together! To get started add: - 45ml Fireside Gin - 20ml fresh lemon juice... - 20ml orange peel syrup, and - 2 dashes Angostura Bitters. Give it a good shake and pour through a strain into a glass. Add 1 whipped egg white or Instafoam/Aquafaba and optional dehydrated orange for a finishing touch! Let us know if you give it a go. YUM!

02.01.2022 Many of our customers are surprised to learn that although our signature Happenstance gin contains mandarin and lemon myrtle to create some beautiful citrus highlights, we also add fennel and nutmeg to add a little spice too! When rounded off with the subtle sweetness of strawberry gum and vanilla botanicals it’s the perfect choice for a Happenstance G&T on a sunny afternoon. 01.01.2022 Happenstance had an absolute blast at Spirit Fest 2021. It was inspiring to spend the day with other SA distillers who share our passion for craft spirits. The local scene is thriving, and we love to see it! Our booth kept us busy all day. Big thanks to new friends and old who dropped by to sample... and say hello. 01.01.2022 Did you know that we use a glass still to determine the alcohol content of our liqueur? Our video shows our little still in action and looks a bit like a cherry inspired science experiment and we guess that’s because getting our delicious liqueur perfect every time requires an exact science! I don’t know about you but we think this process looks like a lot more fun than anything we ever did in science class!
