12.01.2022 As restrictions are one step closer to easing for our Victorian families we sit back and reflect on how hard this has been for our little ones. Research is showing that anxiety in children is at an all time high and we need to nurture this as best as we can as we welcome them back into society after what has been a long, six months. Some very simple ways we can support our children who may be going through some anxiety: ... long, deep breath techniques (make sure your breath out is longer then your breath in) singing - this could be humming or getting up with some high energy music to shake out those anxious feelings Continue family connection via Face time or designated family time (phones down) laugh. Laugh so hard together. They really do say laughter is the best medicine and we have to agree Be gentle with yourselves and your children as the world opens up again. How are you feeling as the world goes outside again? #anxiety #anxious #NDISProvider

11.01.2022 I see you taking your kid to therapy while your friends take their kids to football or ballet. I see you sneak out of the conversation when all your friends boa...st about achievements and exam notes. I see you juggle events and meetings. I see you sitting on the computer for hours investigating what your child needs. I see you make a bad face when people complain about what looks like nonsense. I see you disappear little by little but you keep going beyond for your family. I see you pull strength from weakness with a force you didn't even dream you had. I see you showing respect for teachers, therapists and medical professionals who help your child and help you. Watching you wake up early in the morning to do it all again after another chaotic night. I see you when you're on the edge of the precipice struggling to live. I know you feel invisible, like no one notices. But I want you to know that I see you. I see you push forward always. I see you choose to do everything you can to give your child the best care at home, school, therapy and the doctors. What you do matters. It's worth the struggle. On those days when you wonder if you can make it one more minute, I want you to know I see you. I want you to know that you are beautiful. I want you to know it's worth it. I want you to know that you are not alone. I want you to know that love is the most important thing, and that you are the best at it. And in those days when you see an improvement, those moments when hard work has its reward, and you can taste success, I'll see you then too. And I'm proud of you. Whatever day today... ...you're doing it right. And I see you. Alethea Mshar John Walker / Flickr

05.01.2022 Rainy days call for painting. One of our support workers Lou said that she’s not going to give up her day job any time soon and become an artist but what she will guarantee is that she will always make her participants feel worthy and special. People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways.... This is the way Lou expresses her gratitude to Ella today and we hope it made her smile. What did you do today to show someone how amazing they are?

03.01.2022 It is funny. We feel like we have spent so much time at home this year but the festive season can still make us feel burnt out and be emotionally challenging. We feel like we have to make sure we get everything done yesterday and that can be so exhausting. Emotionally and financially it can be a burden so we are here to remind you to just stop and....breathe. ... This year threw us challenges that we never thought we would ever see in a lifetime. Now, all of a sudden we are surrounded by Christmas this and Christmas that and well, it is overwhelming for some of us. Some things that we can do to ease the pressure. Outsource! is there someone else that can do that for me (like a cleaner just for a day to have a clean, fresh house for Christmas) Choose your battles - is it really worth the fight? We say you do you and go with your gut feeling. Avoid over committing. This is easier said than done we know but remember you don't have to say yes to everything. The new year is not far away and you can still catch up with your loved ones then! and......breathe. Sounds so simple but if we stop to take a moment to breathe the Christmas rush won't be so bad Also, our team of amazing support workers are here for YOU. If you need that extra support please reach out to us. That is what we love and do best. What are you doing to make sure you don't get overwhelmed with this time of year?
