25.01.2022 We have decided that as some of our books are so popular with children, we will bring the story alive for them. Our first attempt at this task was using "Were ...Going on a Bear Hunt" story. Please see the caption on photos for details. Below are some benefits of story extension: - Expand concepts presented in the story extend on a theme - Build childrens experiences through exploration and participation - Deepen childrens knowledge and expand their skills - Allow children to explore ideas and try problem solving ideas. - Provide a link between the story and real life. They aid in making the story come to life and have meaning in reality.

23.01.2022 From conversation with children we found out that they wanted to build their own cubby house. Luckily we had all the required materials at hand. With some guida...nce children went to work to collaborate with each other to create their own cubby house. It was great to see them working as team and result was just awesome. Learning outcome 4.2 - Children applied a wide variety of thinks strategies to build their cubby house.
22.01.2022 Walking excursions are regular part of our curriculum for children to explore, play and learn. We are lucky to have many facilities and natural bush environmen...t walking distance from our house. On top of benefit of physical exercise, we always try to incorporate intentional teaching at each outing to enrich childrens learning.
21.01.2022 Today we were lucky enough to have two members of Mandurah Volunteer Fire and Rescue (Tania and Scotty) coming to our daycare to speak to children about fire safety and show them their fire truck and equipments. Needless to say children have been very much looking forward to this visit and they had a ball. Tania and Scotty were great with children and some parents also told us that they have learnt a few things from the talks. This is becoming an annual event for us now and one of the high lights of year in our calendar. Once again we would like to thank Mandurah Volunteer Fire and Rescue for their visit as they are one of childrens heroes. We also appreciate all the hard work they do in keeping our community safe.

15.01.2022 Children having great fun with police officers.
14.01.2022 This morning we had 3 police officers from Mandurah unit coming to visit the children at our daycare. They were great at interacting with the children and makin...g them feel safe at their presence. After some safety talk, it was time to see and go on the police car with the lights on. Children loved this experience as normally you have to be very very bad to go in the police car with an officer. ; - ) This experience allowed children to better understand about role of police in our community, and we can approach them in time of need. Thank you officer Hay for taking the time to help us in arranging this valuable visit for children.

06.01.2022 Its never too early to teach children about fire. Fire is something that its alway around children and it is used for various purposes. We believe its neces...sary for children to learn about fire and how to behave around it. We have started this process by taking about fire and watching various children friendly fire awareness videos. Once we were ready we went out to make our camp fire. We had our regular safety precautions such as safety line (children to stay behind), water to put the fire out, and fire pit so it wouldnt spread out. Children helped in building our camp fire which is great for children to learn about some of life skills which will become handy later in their lives. Instead of roasting marsh mellows, we roasted apples which is a healthier option. We also used a bottle to show children how hot fire is and how easily we can burn ourselves by putting a plastic bottle in the fire and watch it melt in seconds.
05.01.2022 Well almost 3 months went past since we picked and put our olives in the brine solution. Now its time for us to taste it, marinate them and take some home for our parents - so they can enjoy our labour of love.
