25.01.2022 It's been a busy week for our brigade and members. We have deployed crews to the Cudlee Creek fire for multiple shifts, we have supported MFS in their area for incidents as well as neighboring brigades, and we have also been busy in our own area. This week we have attended grass fires, structure fires, car accidents, fire alarms and fallen trees just to name a few. We have also continued our support for the NSW fires with members deployed over there. All our members are home safe and well. We would like to take the time to thank the local community and businesses for their support and generosity. These are just some of the snacks and drinks that have been donated as well as a large donation of fresh fruit and veg kindly donated by O'Halloran Hill Fruit Mart.

25.01.2022 A little close to home with this fire yesterday Great effort from all crews involved.

25.01.2022 Tonight we had a visit from Georgie and Olivia who came down to make a donation to our brigade. The girls had been saving up their pocket money and wanted to donate to the firefighters From all of us here at Happy Valley, thank you girls for your very kind gesture. Your little hearts are golden

25.01.2022 A HUGE thank you to the Aberfoyle Village Bakery and your patrons for your recent $500 donation to our Brigade. Your generosity is very much appreciated and the money will certainly be put to good use.

24.01.2022 I moustache you a question, but I’ll save it for later A few of our boys are growing along nicely and we’re only 1 week down Reminder to share our progress around and don’t forget you can donate and support our progress here: https://au.movember.com/mospace/14325558 ... Keep your eyes peeled for our photo updates over the next few weeks

23.01.2022 At 2:30am on 29 June, Clarendon CFS responded to a car fire on Clarendon Road. Crews were able to contain the fire to the car and extinguished this with the exc...ellent support of Happy Valley CFS. Unfortunately these suspicious situations are not uncommon. Other peoples property is destroyed and it puts local residents and other road users at risk. Thanks to our volunteers for their service at all hours!

23.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all you Mums out there Particularly to those in our brigade and fellow CFS brigades who are mothers themselves

21.01.2022 Last night our cadets got to practice their firefighting skills with some fire extinguishers and live fire Each cadet training we do our best to expose our cadets to real life scenarios so that they can leave with the confidence of knowing how to handle tricky and sometimes dangours situations

21.01.2022 Amongst the fear and despair that so many are feeling with the current situation of fires burning across Australia, these pictures offer a glimpse of love and hope. Currently the Mawson Group of Brigades has about 20 members (some of our own) deployed on Kangaroo Island. Deputy Group Officer Ray Grose has been tasked as a ground observer, and seems to be spending his days collecting Koalas! Ray is finding the Koalas displaced and/or injured on the fireground and transpor...ting them to the safe hands of wildlife rescue experts. Thank you Ray for your special care with our Aussie icon, and for everyone who is serving the KI community. If you should come across a koala in distress, you can seek help here: Adelaide Koala Rescue

19.01.2022 MOVEMBER 2020 "Men's health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Unchecked, prostate ...cancer rates will double of the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides." This year, a few of the members of our brigade have decided to get involved in this very worthy cause and get growing. As 90% of our active firefighters are men, this cause is very relevant and close to our hearts. Fun Fact: This is a two fold novelty for our fellas, as having a moustache is the closest they’ll get to growing full facial hair, as regulations restrict them when wearing BA (breathing apparatus). We'd love to have your support too so please follow us along on this journey and share us around with your Facebook family and friends. If you would like to support us or donate to this cause, please use the link attached in this post. We will be keeping you updated along the way with some hairy caterpillar'd upper lips so keep and eye out and be sure to have a laugh with (or at) us! Here are our boys rocking their best fresh baby faces last night ready to get their mo on Donation link: https://movember.com/m/14325558?mc=1

17.01.2022 A quick note to our community, to thank you for your care and concern for our crews today, as we face the catastrophic conditions. We have, and are still attending a number of fires with all crews safe. Thank you to these local lads who kindly popped in to restock our water and snacks supplies today.

17.01.2022 Lest we forget.

16.01.2022 Last night, Happy Valley 34P and other heavy tankers from the Mawson group were tasked to assists local firefighters and other strike teams from around the region in maintaining control of the Yorktown grass fire . The crews faced challenging conditions such as wind speeds of up to 80km/hr and overnight temperatures of 37 (which slowly dropped in the early hours of the morning). These conditions provided unwanted sand/ash storms, dust + ember attacks and very fast moving fl...ames which caused great concern for residents living in Edithburgh. Thankfully, even in extremely low visibility conditions, the crews were able to extinguish, to a point, the fires edge. All in all, a fantastic effort by all. A massive shoutout to the The Salvation Army South Australia and the Yorketown locals for providing plenty of food and other refreshments for incoming and outgoing crews. Your efforts are greatly appreciated . A final thank you to all the truck drivers who assisted us in getting our appliances up to Yorktown .

16.01.2022 Each incident that we attend exposes our crews to many different and often hazardous materials , including smoke , fuel , glass, oils and sometimes even some bodily fluids such as blood . All of these pose a threat to our crews health, safety and well-being so it is crucial that we keep ourselves, our protective clothing, our trucks and even some of our equipment (e.g. hoses) clean and free from any harmful materials. Thankfully, through the support given by the City o...f Onkaparinga and their community grants, earlier this year we were able to buy a new wet/dry vacuum for cleaning out the inside of our trucks and our station and a new karcher pressure washer to help keep the outside of our trucks squeaky clean. A big thank you to the City of Onkaparinga for their continued support and for enabling us to buy these items Now we are able to more effectively and frequently decontaminate our trucks and equipment to keep our crews safe .

16.01.2022 Loving Google today

14.01.2022 A great night at training last night, refreshing our resuscitation skills and general knowledge around how we might assist SA Ambulance on scene if necessary. Thanks Maddie and Drew for organising the night for us.

13.01.2022 Last night a few of our members attended a group training night up at Kangarilla. They were able to practice their skills in a defensive structure fire attack, a defensive attack on a gas prop, using a fire extinguisher to put out a fuel fire and getting familiar with some of the different equipment carried by other brigades. A huge thank you to all that contributed to organising this night for our group. We appreciate your efforts greatly! And thanks to Kangarilla Country Fire Service for hosting us

13.01.2022 A Timely reminder as we approach the fire season

12.01.2022 Today our Captain Lee and one of our Lieutenants Phil depart Adelaide to assist with the fires in NSW, along with others from the Mawson group. This will be Lee's third interstate deployment in as many months. 10.01.2022 Last night our brigade practiced two different road crash rescue skills. But in this post, were just going to share a video of how crews break and manage glass at an incident This technique shown is used when crews need to gain entry to a vehicle, usually done when there is a patient inside. This process can be quite messy and also frightening for anyone who is in the vehicle, so crews do their best to minimise unexpected noises for patients and unnecessary mess. Thanks ...to Jack and Colin for last night! It was a fantastic training session Well have some more to come in the following weeks in regards to some other road crash training. So stay tuned!

10.01.2022 Dont forget to head to your local polling booth and get your vote in today You can find us at the following booths: Aberfoyle Park High, Reynella East College, Flagstaff Hill Primary, Happy Valley Primary and Aberfoyle Park Baptist Church. 09.01.2022 Boy oh boy, look at those mo’s well done boys, nearly time to shave again It’s fundraisers like this that highlight the importance of men’s health. It’s a great reminder for all the men out there, including the boys in our brigade to go get checked. Even more so acting as a reminder that nobody is immune from illness like fact that two of our own boys have had a previous battle with testicular and prostate cancer. Thankfully, both cancers were caught early enough fo...r treatment and interventions to be made. We are very blessed that those boys did the right thing and got themselves checked and because of that, they’re still here today contributing to our brigade and helping you as a community As we approach the end of Movember, we’d like to remind you that you can support us by liking, sharing and even donating to the cause if you can. All online interactions and donations are so greatly appreciated https://au.movember.com/mospace/14325558

07.01.2022 Can you help us?! We're looking for a new venue for our 2020 quiz night. Please comment below if you have any suggestions.

03.01.2022 Last night our brigade was involved in a road crash rescue exercise organised by our LT1, Mike. The crews involved worked alongside OHalloran Hill MFS Crews worked together to safely manage the scene, and extricate two patients within 48 minutes. Our members were able to put all their stabilisation, glass management, patient management, and patient extraction training that weve done over the last few months or so together in a real-life scenario. Crews were also able to... assist MFS to remove the roof off of the car. A massive thank you to Mike and all of his helpers for organising the training. Also to the crew from OHalloran Hill for coming along last night our entire brigade appreciates how helpful and supportive you all are to our learning. Its a pleasure to work with you all.
