07.01.2022 101 Chicken moult and care: My egg supply is getting slower as autumn is upon us. Just msg me before coming to check I have eating eggs available Ok so we didn’t have the warmest of summers and as autumn is upon us, my chooks have started their moult.... Hens and roosters will moult over autumn and grow a whole new set of beautiful feathers. While this is happening they may stop or slow down egg production to put their energy into growing new feathers. A diet higher in protein at this time is great to help them. That can mean finding a chook feed higher in protein about 20-22% Giving them access to lots of bugs and worms. Adding sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, oats and mealworms to their regime. I love making them a warm porridge with oats, water, seeds and a sprinkle of cinnamon most days. And adding some liquid vitamins into their water now and then. (I use one from the Kinglake vets) Arthur might not be gorgeous right now lol but he will be again.

01.01.2022 Hi all hope you are all still smiling and staying positive. It is now end of breeding season and my girls are having a well deserved rest and are moulting revealing gorgeous new feathers. I have had may enquires from chicken lovers. Currently I only have a few 3mth old girls and boys available and when breeding season starts in spring I’ll have fertile eggs, lots of chicks and point of lay available again.
